    Tips For Reluctant Breeders?
Ive been breeding for 3 years, and all 3 years were a complete sucess for me. Now my bee male (proven) just wont lock up with my female pastel. The pastel is 1900+ grams but they wont lock up. I tried leaving a tissue with another male and puttin it in with them, and that didnt work. Im not new at this so i know what im doing, but i cant seem to get them to breed. Any tips?

More than likely it isn't your male as much as it's probably the female just not ready and eager to breed. The females really need to be willing and that can sometimes be the hard part for me. You just gotta be patient and keep attempting through the cycles and hope for a lock. Good luck!

Urg. this is annoying me now because she has follicular development, i feel them. is it possible that she just dosent like the male? and her eyes are looking a bit blue. is it possible shes not breeding because of shed? (it cant be a pre ovulation shed because i just started pairing a few weeks ago)

My het Clown females will happily 'snuggle' with the het Clown male but act like they're losing their minds with the obscenely expensive Bee.

He's from Kobylka and is a "proven male" who is said to have been an aggressive, succesful breeder but he shows no interest in -any- of my females at all.
[all 3 are proven breeders with successful previous clutches]

He's trying to get away from them just as hard as they're trying to get away from him.

I've left the paper in from the het/het snuggle fest and thrown in a recent shed from a randy proven Pastel, just for good measure.

    Got nuthin'.

All the girls act like they just hate him.

He cost too much to just be a very decorative pet.....:(

Are you positive 100% sure that your bee is in fact a male? A quick probing couldnt hurt...Ive never bred before so thats the only thought i could offer.

the bee is a proven breeder he bred to my normal last year so that cant be it.. and he dosent try to escape he just snuggles up to her with no lock  i really want him to breed my female pastel this year.. i could use killer bees and super pastels...

I don't have a probe kit yet but I'd reckon Justin knew whether it was a boy or not.

I could always toss the het male in with the Bee and see...:)

Be sure to leave him in there during the shed. A lot of times you'll get locks during shed. I'm not quite sure why, but some pairs seem to always lock during shed. GL

Okay thanks alot, ill leave him in there then. I hate how the pictures i take never bring out the colors for these guys though... The bee looks so much more whitish yellow in person and even in shed the pastel is a nice yellow.

I could throw her to a spider male, but i mean i have bees, id love some super pastels. Its realy urking me though. 1.5months n no locks, unless i miss them but i doubght that because i check the tub atleast once a day...

Put them together when there is a storm front moving in. A day or so before, always seems to work for me.:snake:

How long have you been leaving him in there for ? Try her with another male if you don't want to loose a season with her, You never know he could be a shy breeder. My het clown male is the same haven't seen a lock and my females got folicles :( but I have seen him 'trying' to court her so I'm staying optimistic lol.

    Good luck

This guys not showing any resluts so i think i might throw him in with my big normal girl after she gets another feeding or 2 in because she breeds like theres no tomorrow... Maybe thatll jumpstart him but i really wanted to give her the year off.... Hopefully 1 lock wont get her eggs. Shes a good size, i just wanted to save her
    For next year

I have a normal this year that I have thrown my mojave, cinnamon, and pin and she hasn't locked not once with any. I throw my spider in last night and when I check today boom...locked...Don;t really want more spiders but I'll take the lock..most of the times its the females but not always the case...just keep trying..

Have you tried rubbing the female with another males sperm? Sometimes that will get the male in a competitive breeding mode.
