First snake bite! (very graphic, lots of blood)
Hopefully I will be able to finish typing out this thread before I pass out from blood loss. I should probably be calling 911, but instead I thought I would share with my fellow herpers this horrific incident. I was feeding my 2011 hatchlings and I foolishly decided to move my 100 gram pastel yellowbellies water dish while also dangling a delicious rat pup over her head. There wasn't much room for error in a 15qt and I got snagged.

SO MUCH BLOOD, just look at it all. I hope I didn't make any of you loose your dinner from these very graphic pictures.

    Oh, that's awful.

I got queasy just looking at it. That has to be in the top 5 worst ball python bites I've ever seen.

Do you think you'll need a transfusion ?

Please update us when you get back from the ER. I hope the ambulance ride was not too expensive! :O

    Inconspicuous flipping of the bird.

But seriously, I think you should really get that checked out. I'd take that down if you could, this is gold for the people trying to ban pythons.

In my professional opinion you need some stitches for that. I hope the hospital get you fixed up quickly.

See, this is why snakes are evil and no one should be allowed to have them. They are a major safety hazard. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

And then we need to make sure we ban cats because they are truly vicious creatures. I mean, my cat makes me bleed buckets if I touch her tail, so clearly she is a dangerous animal and all of them should be banned.

    Then! Lets ban scissors.....

Scissors pose a great threat to the common house dweller. I made the mistake of running with them once...couldn't sleep for three days. It was truly horrific, don't even joke like that.

Dang, I've had a parakeet do more damage. Those vicious, bloodthirsty birds should be banned first, before more carnage can occur.

I'm actually a little sad my new guy christened my boyfriend* before me. If he goes for anyone it ought to be the main person who messes with his tank, yes? I've still never been bitten by any snake, not that I'm actually looking forward to it or anything. Just sort of know it's going to happen eventually and want to get it over with.

*Didn't even draw blood, just a small tap and pinching sensation according to "reports." Obviously traumatic. :P

    HAHA. I love this thread!

I am actually very glad you posted this because I have been curious about the kind of bite a little-ish BP leaves. I have been tagged by wild gopher snakelings and such (which obviously does absolutely nothing... and yes, I just used the word 'snakelings'. If a duck baby is a duckling, a snake baby should be a snakeling. Deal with it.) I always figured a BP snakeling would pack a bigger punch, but mine just hasn't found a reason to bite me yet. Glad to know they are deadly. :D

Anyone else have bite pics? They're always great fun!

Thanks for all the concerns last night. I think that's what gave me the extra push to fight through all the pain and discomfort. Sadly, my finger was amputated...

Well, clearly you have no one to blame but yourself for keeping such a dangerous animal in your home.

You should just have that amputated right away and then slap hot iron to it to staunch the hemorrhaging.

    I hope you will survive.

[but if you don't...can I have your snakes?

    :)

Soon, that snake will be laying beside the OP on their bed at night while they sleep, "measuring them" to see if they can be swallowed.

I second this. They may have to put on a Tourniquet, so that you don't bleed out before you get to the ER. :O

After they get done amputating your middle finger you are going to have a very unique way of flipping the bird. lol You can call it the "unbird". My Dad would tell you if it hurts just sit on the stove and get an Assburn.:rofl::rofl:

Well at least you can still give someone the bird. Hopefully your hand won't get stuck like that.
