I haven't seen my pinstripe since I put him in the tank. :'(

My gorgeous new boy has been in his hide since I got him. I understand that it is totally normal and he's in a new home so he's scared and uncomfortable... but I'm itching to get him out and I at least want to see him every so often! Oh, sigh...
My policy is one successful feeding before handling. I sure hope he eats on Monday.

I'd be happy if I were you. A hiding ball is a happy ball!!

Yeah, true! Thanks for reminding me, that makes me feel better about it! :) He's just so dang nice to look at.
I actually got a little nervous that he had perhaps gotten out somehow, his hide is arranged in such a way that I can't even peek in it. (I thought he would be more comfortable that way.) He's there, though, I had to lift up the corner to ease my mind.

I've had that before. You just have to check to be sure. LoL

Oh my gosh, wouldn't it just be the worst to be all excited about feeding him for the first time only to discover that he isn't there!? And then not even know how long he's been gone... I was driving myself nuts and had to check.
This morning was the first time I've noticed him with his little head poking out of his hide. He's still mostly in there, but starting to check out the scenery...

thats a good sign, poking out and curious!

Maybe he comes out at nite w/out you knowing?

My new boy was all over his tank for days...he ate last Thursday, and he's been in since Monday.
I'm just wondering if he's hungry...I feed him in a seperate box, so how do I get him out to eat? Last time I lifted his hide he puffed up like an adder & hyperventilated! :(
I just want to be sure he's alright, although I DID see him poke his head out yesterday morning. Thought he could be in shed, but I never saw his eyes change. Should I just leave him be? Will he come out when he's ready?

Anywho, you should def check and double check your husbandry- too cold, too hot, improper humidity- can lead to your snake being very uncomfortable, which might cause "not normal" ball python behavior. He could also just need a little longer to get used to his new home. You don't need to feed in a separate enclosure, and it could in fact be argued that it could cause undue stress. I never feed in a separate enclosure, and Jackson has never struck at me without a mistake on my part.

Humidity runs around 40-50% constantly...warm side temps average around 89-cool side around 75.
Felix is just all "balled" up in the warm side hide..
Okay. Wondered about the feeding. Will try Monday...I read so many posts re: pros/cons of feeding "in house" so I had to ask.
I think he's finally chilled out & comfy in his new home...like I said, he DID explore every square inch of his new home the 1st few days, he ate fine, was great with handling...but I did notice his scales were getting ashy & dull, so he may be starting a shed, so I thought it best to leave him alone while he was hiding.
