question on substrate?! NEED EXPERT :D
hey guys, been awhile since i last posted.

anyway. im getting tired of buying shop towels and substrate... so when i was laying that indoor outdoor fake grass on my porch and i got to thinking? can i use that? i have 4 1' x 6' sheets left over... and that's plenty... im more worried about chemicals and what not.

its just like that zilla terrarium liner... just not from that company lol?

    heres the carpet

I used carpet till I switched to newspaper then I switched to cypress bedding. IMO carpet is the worst, it holds moisture which in my case led to mold. I threw it out instantly. I wouldn't use it...

Too hard to clean. I tried it once for my boa and went craft paper and never looked back.

I used the plastic astro turf stuff for two of my BPs.

    WORST
    IDEA
    EVER

It didn't clean very well when you had the lovely encounter with an exceptionally juicy poo, it didn't help with controlling humidity and if anything, just looks ugly to me.

Currently I'm using Cypress, Aspen and Newspaper for bedding. I'd recommend using newspaper if you are looking to switch to something cheaper.

What you can do is use it and once it gets dirty toss it and use something else. It sould be safe and sense you have it, why not use it. But it is terrible to clean, doesn't mask oders, and can get mold rather easy.

I think that it would be tuff to clean and also might be a little to ruff for your snakes belly.

Give it a shot if you want. Just keep a close eye on your snake.

I just got a roll of corrugated wrap and am in the process of testing it out. I have been using butchers paper and like it but I think that this corrugated wrap stuff will be more absorbent.

let me know how that works out for you. just looked it up and a roll of 12"x250' is like $20?

Off-topic, but a question about pic#2. Are you feeding two snakes in the same tub? That could lead to a dangerous situation where one mistakes the other BP for his dinner - prying a feeding BP off it's prey is no fun for anyone involved.

So far it's been great. It won't help for humidity, but I don't have issues with that anyway. I'm holing out until one of my snakes "soils" it to make my final decision, but it's looking good.
