Oh that poor poor snake. :tears: What an idiot. His snake isn't aggressive, it's just afraid! Poor baby. :tears:

I know. :tears: I'm on the verge of tears right now. I just cannot believe how some people can look at that...can have that STARING into their face, and not see that there is something horribly, horribly wrong here.

I am learning every day just how little regard many people have for living things. One of my friends showed me this story about a German Shepard that was tortured by a couple of kids who strapped firecrackers in his mouth and lit them off. The poor dog SURVIVED but didn't have a top jaw and had to be euthanized.

Seeing this poor snake just makes me hate people more. I can't believe how disposable animals are to some people. How do you not realize this is a living creature who needs care?!? Grrr...things like these just make me want to go find the person responsible and do to them what they did to their animals...or punch them in the face. Depends really...:taz:

That's really depressing.:( I just hope he survives long enough to find a good home with someone who has a clue as to how and care for him properly. It really makes me sick when I see this kind of neglect when mostly all you need to know is at the click of a mouse. There is really NO EXCUSE!!!!

You have NO idea how much I want to be that person...sadly, I have no place to quarantine any snake, let alone one that sick right now, and am completely broke and will be for weeks. Obviously the poor thing needs a lot of vet care...lord, I just hope someone finds him before it's too late. :tears:

I am astounded by some of my local ads on CL. I see people advertising bald pythons, ball Boas, ballmeise (not hybrid) python, and so on. All are normal ball pythons. I have rescued a lot of BPs off craigslist, and wish I could do more. But when ignorant people are selling their sick underfed normal ball python males for $250 I just don't know what to say. The other day I saw an ad for 2 red tail Boas and 3 ball pythons for rehoming, I inquired, 2 6ft + red tails and 3 adult ball pythons for $300 including tank. I asked for pics, all 5 snakes living in the same 5x2 tank! All very stuck in shed. Was very sad. I tried to explain the issues to the person, but they didn't want to hear it. Says their friend is a breeder and expert, says its fine to house together! He wouldn't give me the friends name. I wanted to know it to make sure I never purchased from him...

    *insert desired expletive*

Also, biting once makes a snake "aggressive" ?!?!?! It's a snake! Even the tamest of snakes can have a crappy day at bite! Can you imagine?! Say one of us reached in to pick up one of our normally happy, sweet snakes and got tagged. Do you think for one second we would be on here going, "I need to get rid of this snake, it's just too aggressive!" No! We would take a picture of the bite, post it with the  icon and wonder what WE did wrong and how to correct it. My snake has actually slapped my hand with a completely closed mouth strike before when I have reached to get her, as if to communicate, "I don't really want to hurt you, but I REALLLY don't feel like coming out right now, please go away."

People REALLY confuse "aggression" and "defensiveness." To me, an aggressive animal would be one that snaps without any provocation, unintentional or otherwise. If your hand is anywhere near your snake, it can easily mistake you as a threat, therefore if it strikes, it is being defensive, not aggressive.

That preaching to the choir rant aside, this person is a criminal, and if I were that snake, I would be bitting the hell out of him. How is this not considered animal abuse? Because it isn't a furry animal? I hate that so many humans ruin the lives of other living things. It's complete negligence!! I check my snake EVERYDAY for scale nicks or abnormalities, burns, ANYTHING out of the ordinary. She had a piece of stuck shed once and it stressed me out so badly, I looked for skin infections every day and obsessively checked humidity until it came off with the next shed. If you aren't willing to give an animal the best, why even have it? It's not decoration!!!!

Just had to rant, I can't even stand people like this.

"moving and have to get rid of..."

Seriously? I see this on CL all the time. Like pets cannot move with you? Like you'll get to your new house and get new pets? Ok I realize sometimes people are moving in with relatives or into rentals that don't allow pets. But sheesh! I called probably 10-15 landlords before I found this place. All it takes is a little effort.

And that snake makes me cry inside. :(

It's worth a try. Or at least a small fee to appease him.

Thanks for the rants everyone. I'm just incredibly sad about this, and I knew you guys would feel the same. I just wish I wasn't so powerless to end the poor things suffering.

funnily enough, last night this was what was going through my head:

"Alright, I can transfer my paypal account funds to my mom's bank account, and I can take the flexxwatt out of my incubator, and I can put all 4 of my other snakes on the same thermostat, and I can use my temporary tub, and I can sneak it all to my grandmothers..."

lol. I still don't think it's going to happen, but funny how my mind refuses to give it up.

HAHA i think we all think like that... my problem is going into petco and now leaving with those poor babys, but everywhere has the problem of people doing this moving sale, Cr@p. If you move find a place for you and your animal

Other than a decent looking snake with a stuck shed I don't see anything to complain about. Am I missing something?

Look closer. There's no skin on the top of its neck. It's just raw and angry. He's also underweight...but honestly that's the least of my complaints.

Were actually waiting on a call back right now about an 11 year old female normal. The guys got her in a terrarium(90 gal!!) With no heat lamp and one hid and a small ceramic water bowl. When I talked to him earlier he said its ok he uses a heat rock for her !!!!???!?!! That made me very angry. Hopefully ill be able to bring her home and get her to my vet and quarintine til I know she's ok. Then I'm gonna put her as are display girl in her more improved display terarrium. :) I just hope she doesn't have any thermal burns. Some people just don't care. Its really bad around here because of all the soldiers coming and going. I'm military and have 7 pets and not once has any been left behind do to a move ughhhh people make me want to hit them

No transport, no gas money. I'm just lucky I breed rats right now. ^.^; That said, I'll be fine in 2 weeks. I just think that would be far too late.

Anyone else in the KC/KCMO area that could pick up and transport? :please: I volunteer to do all negotiations with the butt who posted him. I'm good at being polite and talking people down.

Thank you for the offer though, Lupe. Need more people like you in the world. x

Well if you don't find someone in your area who will take him but can find someone who is willing to drive an hour I would be more than happy to take him (though my mom might not be too thrilled) I would at the very least keep him until he was 100% recovered and find him a home where I know he will be taken care of.

If we weren't all the way in north carolina then wed take him as well until he got healthy then try and find someone on here who would take care of them. At least on here everyone obviously takes care of there animals. I hope that thing finds a good home :(
