New Addition: Another male SD!
So, the retics have stolen my heart, but since I could never manage a mainland or even locality dwarf on my own, I've been big on the SD's.
This is my second male SD, produced by Henry Piorun in 2007 (though I didn't buy him directly from Henry, I got him from someone on ReptilesCanada.com), and I'm already starting to save so I can maybe get an older female some day to breed... I have another addiction haha.
It's not the best pic and he's in shed, but here's Trent:

I'll for sure be posting new pics once he sheds (and for those of you wondering, yes Trent referring to Trent Reznor... I ran out of Tool/APC based names and moved on to NIN now :P)

Thanks! He's just about 5.5' and from the looks of him even if he isn't an '07 (though I trust the guy I got him from) he's done growing.

Thanks!
That's what I was thinking when I named him! But people tend to look at me like I'm crazy when I say a snake looks like someone, so I tend to just keep it to myself :P

Nice! Congrats! Can't wait to see after shed pics :D

Re: New Addition: Another male SD!
I love retics, but as you said, I couldn't handle one on my own. How big does an average full grown male SD get? Between 5-6'? And how much do they weigh?
He's very cute. Congrats on the pick up! :gj: (Now I want one even more. :P)

Thanks! And if you get one, you won't regret it! :P heh heh okay, I know I'm not helping lol
Depends on if you're getting pure super dwarf, and where you're getting them from (some breeders have smaller lines than others). Anything with a morph in it is not pure SD because apparently there are no morphs in SD's, so they may have the potential to be slightly larger because they are mixed with mainlands or locality dwarves.
Generally though most that you'll see will be around 5-6', with some of the really small ones being even as small as 4' (I've heard of one) but those are rare. They're lean like regular retics though so they are really not heavy or girthy. I haven't weighed this guy, but I'd guess him to be maybe at roughly about 1000 grams (but I'm terrible at weight guessing lol)

Lol! That size is totally manageable. I really wouldn't mind if it was a little on the larger side. 7-10 feet would still be okay. :P But an SD sounds like the perfect size for my snake room. :D Now I want one even more...*runs off to look at SD's for sale*

Beautiful! I share your opinion, retics are amazing, big or small, but I would be terrified to handle a mainland on my own. With the SDs, you still get that amazing retic pattern without the terror. haha.
What is their temperament like? I Know very little about them, but I would like to learn because someday, many years from now, I would very seriously consider one, they are just too pretty, and I would like a "large" constrictor that is not too large.... :P

Trent looks awesome! Nice pick up...can't wait to see the post shed pics! :gj:

Congrats he's a handsome man :P

They tend to be pretty laid back for the most part. My female is a bit more high strung than my male but I've figured her out and she hasn't tagged me in a long time. My pair share the same sire and he's a little over 4' long. The two females they were bred off are right at around 5' long. They are a very manageable size. My pair isn't even a year old yet but they are both around 3'. I feed quite a bit and they still are pretty small. They are very smart and inquisitive. Totally opposite of ball pythons in my opinion which is why I love them. I just have one pair because I think they are very neat and have always been fascinated by them. Didn't mean to hijack Alexa :) Congrats again.

^^ What Brian said, exactly what I would've told you. No worries about hijacking, it was still related :) thanks again!

Beautiful SD you have there. Congrats on the pick up

Thanks! Good to know! I am just sticking with one snake while I am living in an apartment, but in a few years when I have a house, my collection will explode and I would LOVE one of these beauties:gj:
