PAM no longer allowed in Florida.
Well i have no links. But i was just told today that the maker of PAM can no longer send to the state of Florida because they did not renew a license of some sort? I could totally be wrong but we had the makers call the store 2 days ago and say we can no longer sell it.
The wildlife marshal came over to the reptile shop today and was asking if we are still selling it.

Well that is all i know so far. How about any of you?
Looks like i better not come running into mites.

    What a great solution.

On topic, if that sticks around it would be unfortunate for all snake owners in FL. I don't know of any product that works as well.

it is a great solution,, and if the "P.A.M ban" is true,, its the only solution if you want to use P.A.M.
i gave an alternative,,, you gave a generic coment. whos off topic?

I wouldn't call it a great solution but I agree it probably is the only one.

What I want to know is if it is illegal to transport or posess the stuff as well.

To the OP. And anyone in Florida.. It sucks you guys can't get PAM any more.. Are there any licenses you can get to use it?

And to you Dart. I had a SMALL mite problem and TBH Zoomed's Mite Off worked for me. Like I said I had a SMALL mite problem and caught it early. If you have a bad infestation though I would have to see only PAM would help..

Well i was told you can still have it. Though they cannot have PAM sold to anyone in florida. so you cannot buy it online. If you had some already before the ban then you may continue to use it. people cannot sell it.

It is not a license that we / I need. The maker of PAM has to have a license in each state in order to distribute it to that said state. The reason for that is because it is pretty much a poison.

From my understanding. It is expensive for the makers to pay for each license in order to sell it in that state. Florida was not a big customer base so they did not want to renew the license. Meaning now we cant have it in Florida because Florida is mad they didn't pay them to sell their product. :[

Yeah. Drive to Georgia. buy a case and drive back to Florida. You can posses it. just not be able to buy it in Florida or have it sent to you if you live in Florida.

Yes I could drive to Georiga and back just to get some, and if I need to I will. But that takes an entire day and costs a good bit of money.

It is a restricted compound all over. In many places in Europe, and it is hard to get in Canada too. Elbow grease works you just have to keep at it, and be diligent.

I have the best solution of all. If all this stuff isnt allowed in Florida, MOVE. Get the heck out of that state while you can. Move somewhere awesome that doesnt care if you own snakes or buy PAM.

I googled, looking for info on this subject but found nothing about it on line. All references lead back to this website and quotes from this thread. I take it you live in Florida? Maybe you can find out something locally and let us know.

There were, however, many articles about the fight to ban inport/export of certain constrictors. Funny but from what I read it's turned into a debate between the Democrats and Republicans. The Democrats are in support of using the Lacy Act to ban 8 types of constrictors from inport/export into the USA. The Republican's are against the ban because the Lacy Act also bans merchants from trade across state lines so even US breeders wouldn't be able to sell or trade out of their perspective state. They say this will have a detramental effect on the economy.

I'm new to this site, and herping in general, so I'm just learning about this fight but after reading multiple articles on line it appears that it's growing into quite a controversy. I was encouraged, however, to find that an entire political party is standing behind us. IMO they are thinking too black and white.

Driving to Georgia, unless you live a couple hours from the border there, is stupid. I can guarantee that neither I nor any other Miami or South FL based snake keeper is going to drive a whole state just to buy PAM. But what's even stupider is the fact that they aren't allowing it. They are ************** ridiculous. Wow the law never ceases to amazes me with the bs rules & regulations they come up with. I hope all those who were part of this ban, have their homes infested by fleas, ticks, and mites even if they do not own pets. Damn idiots.

    Google:
    Equate: lice treatment bedding spray
    or
Walgreens stop lice in-home lice spray

Note the same amount of active ingredient as Provent-a-mite: Permethrin 0.50%
Price for the Walgreens product is $6 for 5 ounces.

Use in the same fashion as Bob Pound's product and get the same result. No, I'm not interested in debating about isomers. It's the same stuff.
