    Mini-freezer for rats?
Getting rats from the local store is starting to get expensive. lol. I think it's time to start ordering rats... Probably from rodentpro.com. The issue is storage, since I'll need to order decent quantities to make it cost effective. I'm thinking of buying a small freezer. Anyone have a suggestion for one? I was looking at a 3.2 cu.ft. online, but that seems to be too much. There's a 1.5 as well, but that one seems to small.

If anyone has used one of these and can share some thoughts, I'd appreciate it. :D

i would say the bigger the better. you dont want to buy it then have all the rats not fit.
look into american rodent. thats where i get my rats because it cheaper then rodentpro.

i use a 5 cubic foot, and it will hold 6 mos. worth for 20 or so snakes EASY...
it would hold 1 years worth, but i dont get that much at a time.

I picked up a small freezer used for <$100. I think I paid $85 for it, but can't remember exactly. Very convenient.

They sell them at Wallyworld too.

I use a 3.5 cubic foot for mine. I vacuum freeze my mice and I (so far) can fit 70 in the mini freezer, which is enough for a year's worth of food for my ball. Then again, I only have one python at the moment. When I upgrade, a 5 cubic foot sounds better to me. Then again, my current 3.5 cubic foot has such a strong coldest setting that if I put any liquid in the regular fridge, it's frozen by the morning. So, small + powerful = ideal. The more room you have, the harder it has to work to cool. If you're stuck between a 1.5 and a 3.2, I'd suggest going for the 1.5. If that's not enough, just look for a size in-between. Craigslist has some nice, cheap fridges.

I keep a full size standing freezer in the snake room.....As far as places to buy feeders, I am going to be hitting up Matt Martin @ monster feeders, I wanna try some of my boas and sd retics on pigs rather than rats.... His prices are comparable to rodent pro......

I am having trouble finding one for under $150. I have been hunting one to keep frozen rats in but I will only have 1 snake. My girl refuses to allow me to keep them in her freezer, where her food is haha. I do understand but I am having trouble finding a small freezer.

I am not worried about size actually the smaller the better. If you know of one let me know. I have checked all local stores and they only have mini fridges.

I have a 5 cu ft one I keep I my garage. I've never tested its limits but I'm sure it'll hold quite a bit. I got it off Craigslist for $50

Craigslist or something along those lines for used. Home Depot, Walmart, Sams Club, Lowes, Best Buy and just about every other store that sells home appliances for a new one. I use a 5 cubic for mine but about to upgrade here for a larger one since I'm starting to feed more raw food to my dogs.

Got it on sale at Home Depot for $130 last summer with free deliver. Google Deep Freezer or Chest Freezer and look for sales. I'm just waiting on the next decent sale to upgrade.

Just picked up a 5 cu ft Haier chest freezer off cragslist for $40.00. Fits perfect in my garage where I keep the hair dryer and thaw out my rats. Not exactly sure how much it will fit, but planning on buying a whole bunch at the Pomona Super show this weekend. Keep searching on CL, you should find a killer deal sooner or later.
