Advice/Critique of Tank Set-up
I picked up my first BP a few days ago. He is an Albino. I was told he is a few months old. 19" long and weighs 87g. He is currently in a 10 gallon tank for the next few months and will be moved into a 20 long. I was told he will feel more secure in a smaller/tighter environment as he is so young. What's your thoughts on the tank set up? Is it too tight with the branch in there? Should I take it out or leave it in.
Thanks!

Thank you for the advice and the welcome! I will definitely put some moss at the opening of the hide. Thanks again.

Nice setup, just ensure the temps are holding
Re: Advice/Critique of Tank Set-up
Yeah I agree! He's a featherweight, for now! So the shop I picked him up from was feeding him live small adult mice. This Saturday will be his first feeding with me. Should I go straight to a live rat pup?

Honestly, I think you should make sure he takes live adult mice for a while to put on some weight, then attempt to switch him. :)

Temps are holding good during the day but dropping on the cool side to 70-72 overnight. Still need to figure that out.

Acurite from Walmart.

Re: Advice/Critique of Tank Set-up
Ah I see. Still can't find Acurite's here in Ontario.
Re: Advice/Critique of Tank Set-up
Thank you! What would be the best way to do that? Should I be feeding more then once a week?

I have a different accurite but it works very well.

Great article, thanks for sharing! I use a UTH on the hot side and a heat lamb on the cold side. If I don't use the heat lamb, the ambient temp is around 72.

Are you only using a heat lamp? I can't tell from the picture. Most people use under tank heat, either from UTH's or heat tape.
I would recommend that you either modify the half-log hides or replace them with ones that the snake can completely hide in. Here's an extremely helpful explanation of good snake hides:

Congratulations and good fortune to you and "Al the Albino"!
