Pastel?
I wanted to confirm that my female BP, Roxy, is a Pastel. I don't think she is a normal type, but I'm not 100% sure what she is. She's not very yellow, more of just a light brown all the way through (dark brown on her head) with strong black lines (some fire/blushing at some points). What do you guys think?

^this one doesn't show up when I preview it, but the link still works if you choose to open it in a new tab.
Those are the only pics I have now, I can post more if needed.

Not a Pastel...looks pretty normal to me...

Re: Pastel?
I was told she was a pastel, but it was by a Petsmart employee lol. I still love her all the same, I am just curious.

Did this same employee tell you it was a female?

Nope, not a pastel. But a pretty normal for sure :)

By the way...he/she is cool looking...nice clean pattern...:gj:

Haha thanks. Yes, the employee did tell me she was a female, but he actually did the probing (i watched him) because he has some BPs himself and breeds them. I don't know why he told me it was a pastel (it wasn't for a sale because I paid the same as a normal). It may have been an honest mistake since she did look different from all of the others with such a sharp, clear pattern.

No pastel there. Very pretty girl regardless! I love her pattern:gj:

He can't tell a Pastel from a normal...I wouldn't trust his probing skills...

Granted I took it with a grain of salt but the employee that didn't know much about snakes said she was a boy and he right away said no, that's not right and did it on the spot and I'm not an expert but from what I saw it looked like a female to me and I doubted that she was a pastel enough to raise the question here so maybe I have a better eye. :P
I guess we'll find out when he/she's old enough to make/have babies. Maybe I'll get her sexed by a professional, but for now I'll just assume she's a girl. Like I said I love him/her all the same.:D

get it popped, it's easy on a snake of that size way more accurate than a pet store employee probing. NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS trust a pet store employee, even if they claim to have/breed their own. sure, there are some out there that know their stuff, but they are so few and far between it's better to be skeptical.

Re: Pastel?
Yup.. normal, but a very nice pattern. Don't doubt people.. there are normals that look like pastels but lack the eyes and the coloration all together. I have a beautiful yellow pastel. (Profile pic) And a heavily browned out pastel who is lightning, but none the less there pastels. Either way you got a good buy it seems.
Left this out.. don't trust sex when you hear it from someone who you don't know for a fact they breed BP's.

Re: Pastel?
Thanks for the compliments on his/her (i still think it's a her) pattern, I agree that it is very pretty and it still seems like a great buy.
I'm pretty sure he did the "popping" style of sexing. It's where you see the pinkish inside right? I mean it looked like a girl, but I'm not an expert on snakes.
Where would I go to get her sexed? I don't really want to pay a bunch of money, but now I'm just so darn curious!

A boy looks like a girl too if you don't do it right or apply enough pressure. Little pink/red shreck ears popping out on either side would confirm a male.
I'd try calling some non-chain local petstores, see if you can find some that know how to pop for a confirmed sexing. You could also check with some local vets to see if any have snake experience. A general check and fecal(never a bad idea) would probably only run you around $50..

One of the cleanest normals I've ever seen! I wish my girl was like that. Yours will be smoking as 'she' grows.
Is there a reptile place you can take her? Most privately owned places will sex free. Going to a vet may require an office visit fee. They may do it for free too since its such a short/minor ordeal. My vet takes dogs who need ticks removed for free. I find that more time consuming than sexing. Maybe give them a call to ask?

Very nice normal! The colors and pattern are both very unique :gj: Popping at that age isn't too hard, I learned from watching youtube videos and confirming with my breeder friend how to do it. I still always feel like I'm gonna hurt it, but I've confirmed a few males/females in my collection from learning to do it myself :)

Thank you very much! And yes I'm going to try to find a place ASAP, whether it be a local petstore or vet. It would be great to know that way if she/he has offspring, maybe 'her' clean pattern will show up again or if bred with a different pattern, maybe make another really clean dom/co-dom.:D

X6? Its not a pastel but VERY pretty normal. I would also get it sexed by an experienced vet. If it were a pastel it would have blushing on the black on top, have a clear belly and yellow on the sides. Here is what mine looks like:
