Oh no, not another is this a YB post ;)
So this female was a rescue. I got her from the dad of the kid that wasnt taking good care of her, she was about 600g when I got her and her length and head size says she should have been 1500g +! She was soooo skinny! We got her 2 months ago and have been taking very good care of her. She has gained weght nicely and completely recovered! She was sooo malnourished that she was pale and I just figured she was a browned pastel. However, since she has been getting good nutrition and proper husbandry she has really got her color back! She has this amazing yellow upper lip that looks like someone took a yellow highlighter to it. We were weighing her and what not and noticed she does have some speckling along side her belly so I figured I would throw up a few pics and let the experts on YB chime in. I realize that if she is one, it would be one of those subtle YBs. She has the best temperament (like she knows we saved her), and is just getting more and more vibrant with every shed. What do you guys/gals think?

Shes so adorable! but I dont see yb if anything none of the pictures show yb but the third looks close I suppose but Im voting on normal thats great you got her weight up that much! Shes looking good :)

The color is a little off on here, she is much lighter than any of my normals with a granity speckling on her bright yellow sides. Belly is clean with that black speckling down the sides of the belly. And she has the brightest yellow "mustache", like neon yellow (last pic). Her "brown" color in these photos is more like a kahki color in real life, very light. I will eventually breed her if I feel comfortable that she has completely recovered from being so skinny and what not...

Whatever she is, she's a nice looking snake. That was one dumb kid to do that to such a great animal. :gj: to the dad for doing something about it.

Yea, browned pastel is what I was thinking, allthough like i said she gets lighter with every shed. As her nourishment continues, ya know? I love the yellow lipstick and I havent really seen too many snakes with that bright of color on their lip like that, maybe it will prove to be genetic :gj:

Definitely a browned out Pastel.

Do normals usually have dot mustaches? Like a yellow dot on each side of the tounge hole? Mine does and she also has a spot and blushing on the top of her head.

Pastel for sure. I knew just by the first pic alone. Shes beautiful!
If you get too busy for her,i still have two open slots in my rack. ;):D Just sayin

I was thinking pastel as well. Did the previous owners have her as a baby? Maybe you can ask if she was more yellow before?
And I really really love the yellow mustache! HA
It's both adorable and funny!

Haha, we are going to hang on to her. She is an absolute sweetheart, and my wife is hoping the yellow lipstick thing proves out...

I didn't get to talk to the son, only the father. The son was trying to breed and just stopped caring about the animals! 2 died, and I rescued 4. The pastel was the worst off of the 4 and the 3 others were normal females. I got them back on their "feet" and rehomed them to a couple different homes with experience that wanted them as pets. We kept the pastel to really get her back up to healthy and now she is! She was so skinny and weak when we got her you could feel every rib bone in her and her strike was so slow and weak it was sooo sad. Her strike was literally like slow motion. Now she strikes with the best of em and just has that "rescued animal appreciation" like dogs rescued from the shelter. She eats like a pig and I am going to wait until she is much bigger before ever attempting to breed her to be safe (prolly at least 2000g). If she ever does get that big. She may be stunted due to so little food for sooo long. I am just happy she is doing so well. Who knows, maybe she will be a new "lipstick line" ;)

Yes, I've seen many normals with these spots. What I've noticed, pretty much all normals have head blushing to some extent. It's just a part of the Ball python wildtype traits.

Wow. Sounds like an older son. I was thinking child son that didn't want his snake anymore. That makes the situation even more sad. I'm glad you were able to rescue all of those snakes. It looks like this girl has a great home. :)
LOL @ 'lipstick line'. Perfect name.

Thanks Tiffany :)
Even if he was a kid that's no reason to neglect animals. I'm 14 and I take complete care of the herps and they're all very healthy. At least those snakes are out of his care and into yours.
Lipstick line:D Good luck with that!
