please help having problems with my borneo

I just purchased the most beautiful little female borneo. Her name is Elvira. she's having problems with urates. Can anyone tell me how to help her pass them. I've already soaked her and nothing.:please::please::please::please::please::please::please:

Are you saying that she has a blockage that you're trying to help her pass or that she hasen't peed/pooped in awhile?

she definitely has a blockage i can feel it at her cloaca.

If you fill up a tub with just enough water to allow her to swim that might help. If you swim them it gets the muscles moving. Always supervise to make sure the snake doesn't drown.

Allow her to do this for a little bit then if nothing try to gently massage the urates out. Once the urates are out then the rest goes with it :gj:.

Let us know if you get her to go.

i I've already soaked her today and nothing. I guess I'll try the massage thing but i'm afraid I might hurt hurt her. The urates are quite large. I'll keep you posted thanks.

how do you know she has problem with urates?any pic?

It's normal to be able to feel them. She probably doesn't have to go yet.

It is perfectly normal to feel several urates at the back end of your short tail. Only very rarely are these blockages and trying to manually palpate them will only cause injury to the snake. Right now I can handle any number of my adults and feel ping pong ball sized urates close to the vent. Soaking is fine as any additional hydration during the dry winter months is always a plus and very well may cause your snake to pass these clumps, but do not be alarmed if he doesn't. Furthermore you will find that these fat lazy snakes don't like to give up their poop that easily as well, as you may notice MONTHS pass without a stool. A short tail with a true blockage will appear unusually distended, like a severely overinflated tire for several days on end. It will also act out of sorts from its normal behavior , sometimes lying on its side, and the rear half can appear limp.

i've had her for a month and i'm sure she hasn't pooed she just shed last week and the water reaked like heck do you know if that's normal?

a month is really not that long to worry.... if your changing your water every day, or every other day, sometimes the water will even then stink. i think that they might piss it or something. posibally (if the shed was in the water ) that would cause the water to stink.. if you have ever smelt of a fresh shed it kinda smells like amonia (to me anyway). just keep fesh water..
how was the shed? was it full, in pieces,, or is there some still on her?
also,, how big is she, and what and how often are you feeding her?

i think it still normal..manually palpate can cause injury if we are not lucky..just feed and provide water as usual..hope she will poo soon..:D

shed went well came off in one piece but split down the middle a little strange but in one piece. she's a little over a foot long and eating once a week. and the water was in a sterilite tub i use for problem sheds i usually have with my ball pythons.

Yep increased the humidity and voila terd and urate! Never been happier to see poo and pee!:D
