Welcome to bp.net and congrats on your new baby. Why don't you tell us a little about him or her. What is the name? Where did you get him/her? Is it a he or she? lol and anything else you want to share.

Re: New kid and new Bp
Well, she's currently 7 months old and her name is Pythy, am bad in names lol :D. I think it's a she, don't know it for sure because where i bought her, the usual employees weren't there. So.. I got her from "Animal Express", it's located in Belgium. And everything is going fine for now ^^, she's rlly cute and she doesn't attack me or anything, i feed her mice in her habit.
(Sorry for my mistakes, am from belgium ^^ )
my regards

Thx. What's the meaning of the 1.0, 0.1 ?
e.g : 1.0 Normal (Rocko)
1.0 Mojave (Mac)
1.0 Pastel Ghost (Zeus)
0.1 Spider (Zarah)
0.1 Coral Albino Boa (Josslynn)
1.0 Kenyan Sand Boa (Cee Lo)

Welcome to the obsession.
If you're like most of us, you'll soon find yourself thinking of forgoing food to buy "just one more" snake. It's a slippery slope.
Most of the time this forum is very friendly (rare exceptions), hope you stick around :salute:

1.0 means one male
0.1 means one female
1.1 means one male and one female
5.16 means five males and sixteen females, etc.

Is her heat bulb directly in the habitat? If so that is very bad. Ball pythons will burn themselves if they can come into contact with a heat source.
Also it would be best to put a hide on both sides of the habitat. (preferably identical hides) this is so he/she can feel safe while still properly regulating body temperature.
Just make sure the hot side is between 31.1 Celsius and 33.3 Celsius and the cool side is between 25.5 Celsius and 27.7 Celsius. Humidity should be around 50 percent normally and around 70 percent when he/she is in shed.

Welcome to the site and congrats on picking up your first ball python!

Thx man for the info! Today I changed a lil, my heat bulb is now covered and I did some isimo ( don't know the english correct word for it) on the back and the sides for the heat, I'll upload a photo ;)

changes to my habitat
Here are some changes I made today, I covered my heat bulb for the safety of Pythy and i put some 'isimo' on the sides and the back for the heat. So what do you think?

Is that a heat rock? If so, I'd get that out of there. Those are prone to malfunction and can seriously injure/kill your snake.

I think the word you are looking for is insulating.
That heat rock may get too hot for your snake and cause burns on her belly.

hot rocks have been known to "short out" and get extremely hot. they are designed more for desert lizards than sub-tropical african snakes.otherwise looks better just make sure the aluminum lamp cover doesn't get too hot (no hotter than 37 Celsius)
