Pied pin???
How the heck do they create piebald pinstripes? I can't figure this out, and my punnet square abilities are apparently lacking.
homo piebald X homo pinstripe
The genes would just be:
pie/pie X pin/pin on a square, right? or am I missing something? Why would this not create a pied pin?

A pied x pin pairing would produce pin het pieds and normal het pieds (50/50). To my knowledge, there is no "super" (or homo) pinstripe, because it is a dominant gene. You would then breed a pin het pied to a pied or het pied to get pinstripe pieds.

I think I just confused myself with all that but its because you have to have a pin het pied to create a pied pin you are only putting a pied down and a pin down?

I really like the way the pied almost cancels out the patteron of the snake.

it works identically to making pastel pieds, except there's no to point doing pastel het pied X pastel het pied, since there's no super. So you'd always do pin het pied X pied, to get the 1 in 4 shot.

Yes, an animal can inherit 2 copies of the pastel gene to make a super pastel (sometimes referred to as an Opal). Pastel is a co-dominant gene. Pinstripe is a dominant gene. In this case, dominant refers to the fact that animals either can not inherit two copies of the gene, OR animals that do inherit two copies of the gene do not look any different than those with a single copy.

Any morph can theoretically also have two copies of the pastel gene, as far as i know there is no other morph that shares an allele with it. So, a bumble bee is a pastel spider, a killer bee is a super pastel spider.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I dont see how you got that graph, when I go to the web based wizard, het for pied is not an option.

het piebald is just under piebald on the chart. Just as het albino is the very second choice under albino.
