    what can this be !
this is my male het pied i bought at a reptile show but after really looking at him i think he may be more

    reasons i think so
    1. hardly any alien eyes
    2. way brighter than my normals
    3. lots of blushing
    4. very clean belly (about 98% clean) one or two spots

these pics are compared to a normal bp (the smaller one)
im thinking he may be yellow belly

Don't worry, it's not just you.
Everyone goes out of thier way to look for something different with thier normals.
They want it to be something else so they try and go searching for patterns that do not exist.

Some go as far as to create patterns where there are none.

Not everyone does this. I bought my BP as a normal and I believe she is normal. Humans kinda suck at math. Just because you learn about all these different morphs does not mean that every snake you see has a hidden gene. These genes are still rare. We see these kinds of posts all the time and most of the time I want to say "What did the person selling the snake tell you it was?" I am guessing it was labeled Ball Python and guess what. That's what you have there.

i have seen people buy a normal and dye it with kool-aid then try to sell it as a new morph, not good for the hobby, I have gotten lucky with what i have, and i know there was one other on here that got like an awesome start, truth is you can't see whats not there.

If you got it from a person without papers and without 100% knowledge that she bred it from a pied to something else then its a possible het pied until you can prove it makes a pied.

No yb there, but it is a nice banded pattern pos het pied :gj:

I've heard of the kool aid staining with Leo's but not with ball pythons.
Either way that's a gorgeous php there! Good luck proving him out.

No no. Its a normal ball python that has some banding to its pattern. If you look at NERD's morph page the BP they have as normal also has some banding. The normal ball python pattern has a lot of variation normally.

Yes. The banded pattern, or the striped pattern, and reduced pattern, can be heritable, but it's not a specific mutation. It can be selectively bred for.

Yes people are essentially dying animals now. Like I said earlier I ran across that in a Leo forum. Another breeder had actually seen it at a show. There were some extremely odd brightly colored Leo's and he had asked what morph they were and the breeder proclaimed the "kool aid morph". I think it wouldn't be as easy with bps. Most normals are passed off by scammers as the more variable morphs like "Spector, yb, het reds etc" To try and dye a normal bp with kool aid just wouldn't work very well bc of the dark back ground. It's easier w Leo's bc even normal Leo's or shtct have a lighter background that ultimately accepts the kool aid better.

    Sad but true.
