New Corn snake. What Morph is It?
I Got a new female corn snake :snake: about a year old. The previous owners did not know about snake and decided to get rid of it. I got it over craigslist for a good price. They told me she was a bitter and hasn't eaten for 2 weeks. It was a risky decision , but I got her. It turned out to be a great choice. She wasn't aggressive towards me and did eat for me you could tell she was looking for food. She was aggressive towards them because she was hungry :chew: It turned out to be a great deal and I also got a heat lamp and pad like almost brand new :gj: I decided to name her Pancha :P , I think It is a Blood Red Corn Snake , but I am not sure. What do you guys think?

I'm not a big corn snake morph expert, but she looks to me like she could be a hypomelanistic bloodred corn. She's not quite red enough to be just blood red.

She most likely is. I barley getting the hang of genetics and corn morphs. Is a
hypomelanistic a hypo and is a recessive gene right?

Yup, hypo is short-hand for hypomelanistic, and I'm pretty sure it's a recessive trait in corns like it is in bps.

Not sure what it is but she is pretty :gj: Love the enclosure as well!

And on a side note, almost all corn morphs are recessive.

i bred corns for years before getting into balls. i dont think its a bloodred. i think its a motley. better pics would help. too much glare and no good full body shots in the ones posted. both bloodred and motley have fully white bellies but bloodreds can have some color bleed through on the belly. some belly shots would be helpful. also while the side is diffused a little its not diffused enough for me to see bloodred. motley also diffuses the side just not as extreme as a bloodred.
look at pics online and pay attention to side pattern between motley and bloodred and you will see what im talking about.
also id say normal color variation as both motley and bloodred just about wipe any black out of the normal colors scheme.

Looks to me like an ultramel motley, possibly? Well, a little dark for the ultramel...but that pattern has to be motley.

Definitely not amel, as they have red eyes. Hypo is a possibility, as is blood red like your store told you she is. I'm wondering about ultramel still though :p

She reminds me a lot of my corn, Dash (which I also got off Craigslist and I'm assuming he's a "normal" corn):

most likely a ultramel/hypo (there are alot of hypo like genes hard to say which one it is) motley (pet stores usually dont know what they are talking about, not to that some dont).

arent the circles on the back motley? Im not positive thats just what i think lol

    Normal motley.

Might be a dark hypo, but the motley mutation tends to have hypo-ish effects. Definitely not ultramel, amel, or blood.

Havnt read what everyone has said but no one has thrown out motley from what i have read. From the back pattern it looks like it could be but id need a belly shot to 100% it.
