Lesser Quality?? + POLL

Hey Guys,

I just won a 2011 lesser in auction for $140. I was wondering what makes a lesser "high quality." I've seen some that are very vibrant and some that are very faded and dull. I understand that Lessers will fade as they age, so as a 200 grams snake am I looking for vibrant color and decent blushing in the blacks or am I looking for faded colors and browning??

Personally I think he looks awesome, I just wasn't sure what the community thinks makes a lesser top quality..

As a side thought I think I may turn this into a poll.. :)

High quality is whatever you want it to be. It all comes down to what you like. Breed good examples of what you think a high-quality lesser is and you'll end up selling to others who think the same and propagating your vision of a good lesser :)

Personally I like the really vibrant lessers, so if I were looking for a young snake I'd be looking for the really neon ones, so that when their colors mature they'll hopefully retain some brightness. But that's just me.

I have a lesser male with very bright colors and another lesser and two butters that are very "buttery". I like both versions equally.

I agree!! He is very vibrant and I love it. I will have pictures soon LOL. I plan on getting a butter in the future so the butter can be faded to no end. I was just curious about other peoples ideas :)

Blushing is nice but imo vibrant colors are more attractive.

For me personally, it's all about the pattern. Must be reduced. If it has a black back fuggedaboutit...

This is where im picky, when I think of a lesser, the image that pops in my head is one with kind of pale colors, like a tan-ish cream color, and no spots, but with a dark brown sharp outline of the alien heads with lots of blushing and a strong fade downward.

For butters, I imagine a more vibrant yellow spotless alien head, still with a dark outline, but less blushing and more blended look, with a medium fade.

I know either one can look like the other, but this is how I like to look at them

Personally I like reduced (no alien heads).

It's not just one thing, but a constellation of different traits.
Here's what I look for:

Bright, light colors
Lots of blushing
Good temperament (I demand that in all breeding snakes)
Good appetite (also non-negotiable for breeding snakes)

This girl I consider a good, but not perfect, example of the morph. She's a year old. Her colors are bright and bold, she has a fantastic, interesting stripe, she eats great, and has a good temperament. While not as light as an ideal lesser, her pattern makes her a definite keeper.

yeah, faded and vibrant can both be spectacular. Most people like them clean, though, with very few if any alien heads.

(But any old lesser is still going to make you BELs and kingpins)

Well guess i'm in the minority, i love the blushing they can have. I think one of the best combos I've seen is a super pastel lesser. super pastel blushing + lesser blushing..... I love it.

Did u win the auction from MKBall pythons? If so, I think that lesser looked really good. They usually look nicer after each shed
