Went to the Reptile Expo today...
Oh my God, I just saw the most beautiful thing ever. My eyes bled from the magnificence of this python...

Apparently, it's a genetic mutation from breeding two boas together. I don't remember which, but I'll take a picture of the parents when I go back tomorrow. He has the parents that bred that one for sale for $800 for the pair. But, apparently it's an extremely rare mutation, as the $15,000 price tag reflects. However, she is female and dominant traits show up often enough to reproduce the effect, though mutations are visible 5% of the time or so. Damn, I want that one so badly. If I didn't have to eat or pay bills, I'd totally sell my soul for this snake, lol :D

:P That's amazing that breeding two boas will make a reticulated python! ;)

Lol, yeah...my bad. Retic pythons maybe, not boas. I didn't really listen to the guy explain it, I was too mesmerized by this marvelous creature :)

Wow. I'd love to see it when it's fully grown! Imagine a huge 15-foot retic, all white.

$800 for two snakes that could make more of these beauties, vs. $1500 for just the one? I know what I'd be getting :P:D

$15,000 for that one or the snakes with the ingredients for $800, wow at the difference there.

I figure he probably had 10+ clutches before he got the $15k one. I asked him the same thing, he's selling the parents because this genetic mutation is apparently extremely rare. He's an experienced breeder, so I suppose he had no reason to fabricate that fact. But yeah, amazing difference.

Off to the second and last day of it. Going to take my ball there to get sexed (always assumed she was a she, lol) for free, since the breeder there offered to do so. Vet visit and money saved, haha! Going to take some more pics with a better camera and post them here ;)
