Won a Red Tail...
So I was biddin on a red tail boa on ben's Facebook page and I won it at $47. Is this a good price?
-
Absolutely lol. Congrats :)

Re: Won a Red Tail...
That is a good deal. Congrats on the new red tail.

Re: Won a Red Tail...
Ummm, dude!?!? You are supposed to know what the market value is and how much you are willing to spend in order for it to be a good deal in your eyes before you start bidding. Either way, congrats!
-
Re: Won a Red Tail...
depends on what your looking for. I commonly see red tails on Craigslist for $50 to Free and I dont have to pay shipping. But I agree you shouldnt be bidding on something that you dont know the value of... Congrats?
-
I think there's a big difference between buying off craigslist and buying from a well known breeder...auction or not I haven't seen any bad reviews (I'm sure there has to be at least one, I've just never seen one) and had a more than satisfactory experience when I went there in person  Even for a normal $47 + $39 shipping = good deal either way. Congrats...
-
Thanks! I was kinda being sarcastic about the price. Most of the ones I've seen we're 100+...and my pet store has theirs for 250 lol.

Honestly I disagree with this to a point. I give big name breeders their props but I think its about quality of the animal. Lately there have been several complaints (another post) about a very well known breeder regarding the quality of their animals. And why am I going to pay way more for a snake just because its from a big time breeder when I can get (in my opinion) a better quality one off craigslist?
I have several CL ball pythons and with that said I could go and inspect the animal before making a purchase. I can ensure the quality and get it at a fraction of the cost.
I just don't understand why people insist on paying for a name. I guess its Kraft over Safeway brand.. guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Redtail bcc or a bci or a cross? Either way its not a bad price shipped and an incredible deal if its a bcc

It's not just any name. I'm not sticking up for "big name breeders" I'm sticking up for Ben Siegals, which I have personally seen the cleanliness and quality of the animals. Trust me, I generally stay away from "big name breeders" simply because I know quite a few small scale local breeders that produce just as good, if not better quality. I'm just saying, 90% of the time you get a reptile on craigslist, there's going to be something wrong. Whereas, Ben Siegal, 90% of the time (if not more) you'll have a good experience and receive a quality healthy animal :gj: Not talking all big names here just to clarify...

Can't wait to see it. When are you getting it?

Craigslist sucks...most people on here, or at least a lot, would never do business with someone on craigslist. You never know for sure what will happen or how you will get screwed. You could get murdered by someone from craigslist. My advise: stay away from craigslist.

I thought it was against Craigslist's TOS to sell live animals on their site...

"Selling" is against the "rules" but it's perfectly okay to "rehome" animals...though that rehoming fee can be anything under the sun. I usually see the ads where people are trying to sell pure breed puppies and whatnot for $500+ each get flagged: probably because it's obvious they're actually trying to sell them and not just "rehome" them (silly Craigslist terms).

this might be a silly question but does Ben do a lot of breeding? i was under the impression he flips.
i like his auctions too. ive been trying to win a mata mata for a while with no luck.
-
i have only heard good things about him and his animals. but i guess what i mean is that although he is a big name in the industry doesnt he mainly flip?
-
He flips but a lot of big names do that
