Congrats on you new BPs and welcome to the site. Please don't hesitate to ask questions. Lot's of people here with great advice and willing to help. We want to see pictures too :) Will you be housing them separately. If not that's something to really consider. Mainly for health reasons. Enjoy!

Hello, and :welcome: to BP.net. "Herp" is a shortented form of Herpetology, which is the study of reptiles. So it is common for reptiles to be referred to as Herps...:gj:

Welcome! Congrats on becoming the owner of ball pythons. Just a heads up, they are addictive. Just go through the caresheet and be sure you are housing them separately. Good luck! :D

Welcome... I too am fairly new here; however, I have been keeping reptiles and Ball pythons for quite some time.
I am also located in Las Vegas. If you ever have any questions, or if you need local help... Don't hesitate to hit me up.

oh wow.. uumm there are 2 and no... they are together in a rather large glass habatat. They seem to spend most of their time curled in the 'rock' hide but do on occation coil in seperate hides... there are 2 one is a tree looking thing and the other is a rock... the rock is warmer as it is closest to the heat light. Being in Vegas they don't always need the light but I notice when it gets over 85 one will be by the far end and the other in the tree.... lol
so far no major issues but I have managed to be bite by them both, just once each haha showing me who is boss at feeding time :P

thank you all for the welcomes and the hints and tips... I did note that more then one person mentioned housing them separate.. I received them together in one large [possible 40 -50 gal tank size] habitat and they seem very content most of the time...
I could I guess partition the habitat so they are separated but I didn't even think of it because they have been together all these years.

Welcome to the forums, and congrats on the new family members! I live slightly north of you. There aren't so many NV reptile keepers, it's always nice to see more!
Well, it's certainly not my call to make but I think you should separate them. Snakes don't show aggression like mammals do, so there may be territorial conflicts that you are not aware of. I know it's a hassle to buy another huge cage, but there are other options as well. Many snake keepers here like to keep ball pythons in big plastic Rubbermaid tubs with holes soldered in the lid. A 40qt works well for a ball python, and only costs around $10. You could partition the cage you have now (make sure it's a sturdy divider), but it depends on how large the snakes are. A 40gal aquarium is just about right for one adult ball.
Anyways, if you have any more questions, we're here to help! :)
