Adult female spider for $329??

Why am I seeing adult female spiders for $1400 when LLL Reptile has them for $329? I am seriously considering a female albino from Don in February as a birthday present to myself. But it's hard to say whether he will still have it or not. So now I am torn between buying an albino and waiting until the 2013-14 breeding season at minimum and hatching a pastel albino in 2014 or buying an adult female spider and trying for bees next season. I was also considering a 2010 het albino and trying for a pastel albino next season. Also with Don I know that I can expect a very healthy, very high quality albino and that I will be very satisfied with her. I know it's all about personal preference but I want to know what you would do :)

I would avoid LLL, at least for the purchase of live animals.

edit: I'm also still confused as to your pastel. is he a het or a possible? if you're dead set on albinos one way or the other, wait until you can select a visual female so you're not completely out of options if your male doesn't prove. just my opinion.

I will find out in a few months but I will give him the benefit of the doubt until then :) But just in case I will avoid the het albinos and stick to a visual. I was also considering a 2010 pinstripe girl. What do you guys think of lemonblasts?

Why would you avoid LLL? I've never bought from them so I'm curious why you say to avoid them.

I'm also confused about your pastel. You seem to switch back and forth between him being a possible het and a het. If he was sold as a het albino then he's a het until you prove him not to be het. If you are considering him a possible het because you don't trust the seller then he's still a het until proven otherwise. If he was sold as a possible het (50%/66% or some other number) then he's a possible het until you prove him to be a het.

If you want to work on producing pastel albinos then buy a visual albino female, don't get a spider or pinstripe female.

Everyone likes something different. I love bumble bees and that's why I have 2 in my collection, but they are also something I have plans for in terms of breeding (enchi bumble bees, killer bees and killer bellies). You need to make sure you are producing babies you wouldn't mind keeping if they don't sell. If you don't like Lemonblasts or Bumble Bees don't buy a pinstripe or a spider.

300 something for an adult female spider. Just doesn't seem right. I bought both of mine for 1500.00 each just this year. Perhaps if you are looking in to the spider call and get a weight. There could be a huge difference in what is labeled an adult and what IS a breedable adult. I doubt anyone would really get rid of a breedable adult for 300 something dollars. Seems just not right to me.

LLL has a history of sending out sick and half-starved animals. Often parasite infested wild caught specimens. And then absolutely no customer support or service after that sale is compete.

They may do just fine in the dry-goods department. But when it comes to live animals, they have a very spotty track record.

Well that's the problem. I love pastel albinos, bumble bees, and lemonblasts and that is why I can't decide. Also he is possible het albino but I have him as het albino in my signature to save space or it's just easier to call him het albino and find out later that he's not. Still very happy with my first morph either way. Also I thought his sides were white. But actually one inch from his spine on both sides is golden brown and his sides are bright yellow :D

I would go with the albino :bow:

As Judy said, LLL would just be too much of a chance for me personally. Same thing with Underground, they have great prices and I'm sure a great rep but I like to stay away from places that have a lot of animals come in and out. Just a personal preference.

I'm not taking sides here, but I wanted to say, I bought my low-white pied male from LLL and he was just fine.

No mites or anything, he ate right off the bat for me, and he's now breeding for me.

So, not every animal they sell is bad.

I've never dealt with LLL, only seen them at shows. They're relatively close to me too, so I may go down and check them out myself. However that price does seem a bit odd. Breeder sized spiders of any quality typically are into the $1200-1500 range that I've seen. Instead of photos I'd ask for a video clip. She may just do corkscrews all day. Personally, I would think that a nice quality Albino may be your best choice for future. To clear up the confusion people seem to be having, try writing Pastel PH Albino. Saves one letter space:)

I have bought from LLL reptiles before in person - & since I moved to Oklahoma I got a couple retics off them. Well packaged and came live. Ate perfect, beautiful snakes, nothing wrong, good too handle too!

i bought a pair of black bloods from underground and they were pretty amazing animals. customer service was actually really great too.

I been to multiple store aroind me for reptiles good or just to see what they got. Yea um.. Due to thier mice infested with lice, and my friend getting snake mites from them on his snake I decided to breed my own mice which virtually all my posts are on . Also decided to get my snake from somewhere else. Mark to be exact. LLL yea no thanks forget that.

The thing that bothers me about LLL is that they are selling snakes they buy wholesale from other breeders. So yeah, you'll get some good snakes and some bad. There's not really any consistency since they aren't the ones breeding the snakes.

I personally would never purchase my Ball pythons from LLL but I have purchased a couple reptiles from them (after seeing them in person). Did not have any problems with them, but I have seen problems with certain individuals in person at shows. One I couldn't forget--a Pastel male with some sort of neurological issue. Although not all of their animals are problematic according to posts on this thread as well, but they do have the reputation. I would be careful as an adult female Spider for that price seems funky.

It is ultimately your choice to purchase from whomever you want but I would look towards reputable breeders for guaranteed healthy animals instead of wholesalers.

whats weird is someone was selling an adult albino female proven breeder for around $300 i dont remember where I saw that at but I messaged the girl asking if there was anything wrong with her hahaha but she said nope just isnt looking for much of a profit on her since shes only in it for the hobby?? Too bad I have to save money for family christmas presents.........but I honestly thought it was a scam because I asked for pictures of her wrapped around eggs or with locks or something and still never got a reply after they said they would dig for them today I found an adult lesser female for $415 but never got a reply back.....idk what people are doing these days.....

Well it is Xmas time.... But id be very weary of all of those deals. I tend to stay away from the "good deals" now though. I've learned a few hard knock lessons with "good deals". I'd rather know what I'm getting.
