I wouldn't. You might get babies that are not kinked but non the less there would be kinking in the blood line. IMO

Yeah, that. It's really not a gene that should be passed on, even if it doesn't always show up in every hatchling.

An injury doesn't impact genetics, and so can't be passed onto offspring. But kinking is a somewhat common defect in pythons, and it's unusual for an injury to mimic that.

Kinking can be genetic if you have the genetics that are known to produce them. BUt it could also of been egg stress during incubation that will NOT pass on to the babies.

Its your call not ours, if the kink is small and he eats and sheds all well, theres no problems as it wont pass on unless its a known genetic trait

see if you can get him x-rayed, the doctor may be able to tell if its an injury or a genetic problem? idk, but it might be worth a shot

I've heard of snakes hatching or being born kinked but I'm not that familiar with the subject. Do kinks sometimes spontaneously develop as they're growing? I know they can become more or less pronounced with growth but if he wasn't kinked as a hatchling what are the odds the kink that "developed" is hereditary as opposed to some sort of injury? Is it possible the kink was so minor at hatching that you didn't notice until it grew larger? Was there no kink one day then the next a very noticeable kink appeared? I'm for taking it in for x-rays as cmack91 suggested and seeing what a qualified snake vet has to say.

    Re: breed a kinked male?
I voted "other" because no choice matched my opinion.

I would breed them because it is the male that is kinked and not the female. IMO, kinking is environmental, from borderline nutritional problems in the female. I would get a good bird liquid multivitamin and put a couple of drops in a dead mouse for the female once or twice a month starting at least 6 months before breeding.
