Well it will work. But what you will realize is that your 28's might be at 90 degrees but your 41quart tubs are gonna be around 80. So thats why ppl buy two so now they can build or buy how many 28's and hook it up to one and make or build alot of 41's and plug to a dif tstat. Does make it sense?

yes so with the duel t stat you would put the probes at the top and bottem of the rack instead of the middle?

I'm not an expert but I feel like you give out a lot of misleading information and are a bit confused yourself. :confuzd:

    The thermostat the OP is questioning is as follows;

    The VE-300X2 features include:

    •Convenient table top mounting
    •Two independent heating zones
    •Full back-lit display
•Displays probe temp and set point on main display
    •Hi/Lo History for each zone
    •Hi/Lo Alarms for each zone
    •Battery backup for clock
•Built in Night Drop capability for each zone (independent)
    •Remembers settings during power failure
•Grounded receptacle designed for outlet strip use
•900 watt total capacity with user replaceable fuse (Spare fuse included!)
•10' probe cords (2)- user replaceable
•Stackable! Multiple units can stack for neat, professional appearance
•Pulse Proportional OR On/Off capable for each zone

By using this thermostat you will be able to run two completely different racks at two completely different temperatures. Tape one of the probes directly to the Flexwatt on the center shelf of each rack with heat tape. There isn't some "magical" temperature to set the heat tape in order to get the right temperatures inside the tubs because everyone’s setup is different and all require a little trial/error to get them correct. The best way to go about having the right tub temperature is to set up everything minus the snakes and over the course of a few days randomly shot the temps in the front (80-83 degrees) and in the back (90-95 degrees) of each tube with a temp gun and adjust your thermostat accordingly.

If you’re looking at running multiple heating elements you might wanna have a look at the Herpstat Pro, that’s what I'm using and couldn't be happier.

yes the herpstat 2 (herpstat4 and pro), the ecozone system, the herp keeper. They all do dual + zones. The herpstat 4, eco zone and herp keeper all have very advanced controls and 4 zone control and the pro has 4 zone and advanced features but not as many.

If you are looking at dual racks I am using a HS pro on mine but the ecozone has internet setting and internet monitoring plus alarms that could be a very valuable asset you pay for that feature however.

I highly recommend any of the herpstats. Currently I am running a herpstat 4 with 3 separate heating zones (3 separate 4'x2'x1' animal Plastics enclosures) and I am also controlling humidity in my snake room with the 4th channel.

If you have a question about the Vivarium Electronics VE-300x2 Dual Zone Thermostat call Rich and talk with him. I currently have 4 of the VE-300's and love them. The built in alarm on them has saved my butt once and that made it well worth the money.

I love my herpstats but in all honesty I do not think it matters much they are all rock solid units and have very similar features the ecozone does have the best reporting of the ones I am familiar however. (alarms with email, phone texting ability is quite cool and being able to check temps remotely is a valuable feature...)

The ve300 X2 will run 2 separate racks no problem. It's 2 separate thermostats in one unit. I have 3 of them running right now. The first one runs 4 cb70 racks, and 8 shoebox racks. The others run the same sized racks but at different temps. I highly recommend them.
