National Pet Pharmacy Just Raised Price of Food
I just bought the 5 packed shipped and signed up for automatic delivery.

I just looked, and my next delivery price is $143.09!!!!!

I went back on the site and saw that the price is now 143.

They just almost doubled the price of the rodent block!!

    What's going on?

National pet pharmacy....your a rip off!!!!
    WTH! Really?

This company is being unprofessional!!!!! First they have their shipping at 5 bucks and change it without warning....Now they double their price. WITHOUT WARNING!!!!:colbert:

This company is going to lose business, because I am no longer buying from them! And Im sure a lot of other breeders out there that has been buying from them are doing the same..

    Rip Off....S.O.B.'s!!!!

I'm wondering, if we all call in, and talk to the same manager, if something can be done. I don't think they realize how much business they are really going to lose.

We dealt with the auto shipping requirement when the shipping price went up, but now this? There's no way I can keep buying from them if this is going to be the new price. I can drive 10 hours and buy from a local distributor for much cheaper.

I apologize for the small out burst on my above post....I am just so frustrated with NATIONAL PET PHARMACY!! Hopefully they resolve it, if not I think I will find it elsewhere! If so...I will update you guys on where:confused:

Go figure, right before I was going to order again!:rage: I just canceled my account with them, just like everybody else they suck you in with a good deal, then jack up the price. I hope they lose a bunch of business over this, I can understand going up a few bucks but $60....I'm looking else where  If anybody knows of anywhere else to get lab blocks from I'd love to hear it :please:

You know, I was wondering how long it would take for them to catch on to this...
$90 shipped for 5 40# bags is literally about $1 over wholesale, plus, they were losing money on the $5 shipping deal...
I buy feed wholesale, and that deal was almost exactly what I pay per pound....
Someone in management is sitting on a sore @$$.

That is what I was thinking too. The price, especially with that 15% off code and free shipping was way too good to last.

You guys do realize that the 21$ price was a sale price, right? It's now back to its regular advertised price....

    Anyone in Rochester/Buffalo/syracuse Ny?
If anyone is near me and owns a trailer, maybe we can get together on a purchase. I have a supplier with great prices, it's just, I don't own a trailer.

Filling up my truck would bottom out my suspension getting enough to make it worth while for the trip.

If we go in together, we can take the drive together, split the cost for gas, and I can haul the trailer, or, if your vehicle gets better gas, you can. Whichever is cheaper.

    That way, we both benefit!

    :)

That's what I try to tell people to do... Get together and save some money... I buy a ton a month, and even at wholesale, I still get discounts for buying in bulk. I have a few other friends that breed as well, and we order together, and save with multiple orders...

Thanks for pointing this out. I just cancelled my next order too. I'm not paying the same price as Mazuri 6F for 20% less food.

Yep, cancelled my autoship. At least I got a great deal right before it stopped.

If anyone finds a similar deal... let us know.

I think the 143 price was crossed out and it said the new price in red as the sale price.

Did you hear back at all?

Indeed - the original price has ALWAYS been crossed out, with the sale price next to it. It even said on sale.

Anyone know of any good places in southern California??

The price of $21 was always listed as a sales price. And the bag price went from $21 sale to $28 which is not doubled in price, it's $8 more.

The aspen price has gone from $10.89 to $18.09!!! So that's almost a doubled in price.

I just called and talked to them and told the lady there wasn't any way that I could justify paying $18 a bag for aspen when I can get better aspen shred locally at Tractor Supply for the same price(it's $10 per 2.2cf bag, while the NPP is $18+ for 4cf).

In the end, I really like the Harlan/Native Earth food so Is witched it to 2 bags every other month to keep free shipping via autoship. I did tell the woman that I would be putting some rats on the local food to see if I can tell any difference. If I cannot see some difference in rat production or growth, I will cancel the order completely. She tried to say the Harlan was way better, but I pointed out the locally available food was over $10 cheaper for a larger bag and had the exact same ingrediants.

I was polite and nice throughout the call and both folks I talked to(two sections, one ordering one autoship)were very nice and tried to be helpful. But I was clear that the higher prices meant I would most likely not be ordering from them. I imagine that if enough people don't buy, they'll try another sale(maybe not as low, but sale price some). If they put it on sale low enough, I'll buy from them. If they keep the curent non-sale prices, I'll probably buy locally.

Buying local means I don't have to store loads of aspen or food too. I don't have to unload 300 lbs of rat supplies all on one day either AND it gives me a valid excuse to go to Tractor Supply more often. Win Win Win.

I'm waiting for a call from the customer service manager. She thinks it's a mistake.

I think we should wait to hear what she says before putting in, changing or canceling any orders.

I'll post as soon as I get the call.

    Hang tight.

    Hanging very tight!!!!
    :)

And Wolfy, for those of us who buy the 5 pack, it IS almost double! I couldn't justify paying that price (28.00 per bag). That's ridiculous!

And to keep it in perspective, the $28 is for a 40 pound bag. It's $36 for an equivalent 50 pound bag.

I can definitely get Mazuri 6f for less than $36 locally and I like it better.

Just shop around with local feed stores

    Still hanging tight!

Just a heads up for anyone in the South Florida area, South Florida Rodents sells their custom rodent block for $22 a 50# bag, and discounts if you buy bulk. I don't think they deliver very far, so that is the only down side. I emailed them for a guaranteed analysis as it is not on their site. I will post it if anyone is interested. I'll probably be buying from them if Native Earth stays this high.

The price is back, and just to make sure I understand, it is also free shipping?.........that is crazy, I have been buying locally, wholesale and tax exempt(since I am a business owner, one of the benefits of doing this legit), and I think I pay about $24, or $22 per bag, they charge my card automatically.......I will be more than happy to wait for delivery to pay $16.95/bag. Thanks everyone for the lead.

    Much appreciated,

Jason: Remember the bags of Native Earth are 40lbs. each, not 50lbs. What size bag are you getting for $24 or $22?

    5 bags x 40lbs = 200lbs.

    $84.79 / 200lbs = $.424 per pound

    $.424 * 50lbs = $21.20

In store will run 13-16$ per 50lbs. When i bought a full pallet it was $10 a bag and i picked it up.

I spoke to the customer service manager and she said there was a glitch in their computer system, not just expired prices. They tested and found that for some products the prices changed when you added it to your cart. I wonder how many people didn't even notice.

She said that discounted price should be good for a while and all auto-ship orders over $49 get free shipping. Stock up now.

For those who don't already know, Pet Food Direct and National Pet Pharmacy are the same company.

On my auto-ship page, it had the total as 143 to be billed on X date. My cart had the 143 price. *shrug*

I'm very glad it's back the way it was! I will be sure to over buy every month so I have a safety buffer in case the prices switch again. :)

Curious, does anyone know how long these stay good for on site? I can palatalize this stuff in my attic where it's cool and dry. I'm wondering how much extra I can buy without it going bad.
