Price question super dwarf super tiger
I have someone local wanting to do a trade for some of my snakes. In the deal is a male super tiger super dwarf retic. They claim to have gotten it at a show three and a half years ago as a hatchling for $600. I'm not up on retic prices but that seems low for a super dwarf let alone a super tiger back then. Anyone know what they would have gone for then?

I don't know what they would have gone for then, but up here at least the prices seem all over the place - on the low end of prices I've seen normal male sd's pos. het albino going for $100 and albino clutch-mates going for $1000, so...

But to echo what was said above, $600 seems SUPER low, even for today let alone back then.

Prehistoric Pets has super dwarf tiger (not super tiger) for sale for $600. If I were you I wouldn't buy. It's probably not a super dwarf.

If it really is what they say it is then be happy for the low price :)

Just find out its size, at 3 1/2+ years old you'll know if its normal, dwarf, or SD.

But it could be six months old and they are just saying it's three and a half. I just emailed him back and asked if he has paperwork and who he got it from.

it is my understanding that there is no morphs of sd retics. so i would have to say that the snake in question is at best half sd. so if you're wanting an animal that will stay under the 10' mark this is probably not an animal you want regardless of the price.

Are you sure I've seen lots of "SD" morphs on Kingsnake. They were very expensive though so they probably aren't as popular but I think they do exist. I don't know why they wouldn't.

sd retics are local based. they come from just 2 or three different island. as i understand it all the sd morphs availible are from breeding sd to mainland or dwarf morphs that result in smaller than normal retics but still much larger than true sd tics

Gotcha, I knew people did that, but it seemed that these breeders were reputable. Maybe these have just been bred enough that they are SD size but not pure SD. They will have morphs eventually though :D

Remember, you get what you pay for, if the deal is to good, then the truth is, it probably is tongood. If you can get some paperwork then have at It! No paper, no go! Either way, good luck..

I would look into finding out the animals age. It would be a smokin deal if it was legit. As far as finding morphs around that will stay less than 10ft.. I have some dh blizzard retics that are 3 years old and around 4ft... the parents of these guys are 6-7 years old and she is barly over 6ft... a far cry from 10ft just sayin.....I know I am chiming in late on this and the deal is probably already done or passed by, but there are several morphs that have been brought down size wise from mainland, to jamp and now to sd size. Anything 75% sd is going to stay pretty small......
