I would like everyone to meet....
Miss Dixie Lee Du'Meril

A beautiful rose-tinted 7 year old Dumeril who wound up being "just my size".
:)
Thanks to everyone here who helped me make my decision to buy her.
It ended up being a lucky day for me and her.

Congrats! She sure is purty :)

Thank you!
Now I have to figure out how to photograph her so her colors show.
The iridescent effect 'bounces back' the camera flash and her rosy-peachy colors don't show up.
Weird....LOL

ooo very nice!
Thanks for sharing!

Natural lighting would be the best. She looks good though.

She came from an "enclosure" that had no heat source that was placed in a very chilly room and is currently enjoying a peaceful, toasty nap with an infrared ceramic heater aimed at her temporary tub.
I'm really sort of loathe to expose her to the cold again, poor thing.
[it's sunny but chilly here, today]
She feels surpringly very solid and seems healthy, especially considering her prior "husbandy".
Himself is building her a proper home tonight and I can't wait until she starts over, living her life as it should be.

gorgeous snake. cant wait to get mine.

Very nice boa.... I would love to see a few pic's in natural light though......:D

I woke her up [she's grumpy, now] and took her outside in a tub.
It's overcast and gray outside and this is the best I can get and it still doesn't do her pinkshiness justice.
Sorry.....:(

I'm going back to my usual 'week of no disruptions' so she'll settle in and get more calm.
Right now, handling her is iffy.
She's conflicted.
She hangs on to my arm for dear life but her head is darting around looking for safe hidey-holes, poor dear.
I really think she's never been handled much and at 7, it's going to be a bit more of a chalenge to earn her trust.
I put her back into her tub and turned up her heat to get her to go back to her "happy place'.
She's a very sweet Boa and it grieves me that her life, thus far, has not been how it should have been.

I truly hope you find one soon.
It's good that you'll be getting a juvenile so it can be raised and socialized better than Dixie has been.
Good luck!

Re: I would like everyone to meet....
This shows the pink-into-peach effect somewhat better, in spite of the strange retro-reflective thing on with her skin.

Congrats!! She is lovely! Good for you for giving her the home she deserves. She'll come around in no time. Considering she's 7 years old and hasn't been handled much, the fact that she allows you to handle her at all is a testamony to a Dumeril's wonderful temperament and hers in particular! ;)

To my great surprise and joy, she ate the frozen rat that was too big for all my BPs.
Considering how stressed she must feel, I wasn't going to try and feed her for a while but the guy said she'd refused food last week and she was acting interested so I figured what the heck.
She doesn't eat like the BPs do.
There's no Zombie Dance involved at all...she didn't like that a bit.
So, I just laid it down and she slithered over, put her mouth over its head, started sucking it in and then coiled it to "kill it".
She stayed coiled around it the whole time she was eating which actually made it very easy for her to keep it in a perfect position for easy swallowing.
She slurped it down like a fat-rat-noodle.
Amazing what a bit of heat in your home can do for your appetite, isn't it?
I'm very relieved to have her eating.
I always worry about my new snakes until I know they're good feeders.
Call me silly but I feel a bit weepy, knowing she's sleeping soundly now, all warm and full-bellied.

Yes, it sure is.....:)
[I was really worried about her health and metabolism, considering the cold room issue]
Their pattern reminds me of Victorian floral upholstery.....:D

Wait until she gets fully settled in and comfortable, and that true feeding response comes out. Just remember to keep her on a 10-14 day feeding schedule...

I'm kinda hoping she remains a "nice, casual gnosher".
Can't say I'm really looking forward to a 5+' snake *lunging* up out of the substrate at me.....:D
[thank goodness I accidentally bought 24" hemostats by mistake]...:)
In spite of everything, she seems solid and round so 10-14 days should be no problem for her.
The real upside is now I have a 'trash can' for those "too-big rats" I sometimes end up with from my supplier.
Even though my 2 het Clown females *could* theoretically eat them, they don't seem to want to, preferring smaller 'medium rats'.
The dum looked at the big rat and didn't even hesitate.
There was no 'bump' in her after she ate so she could easily eat bigger ones, I think.
She's been very happy and content since she ate.
She's no longer hiding under the newspaper, preferring to sprawl out in a loose coil to sleep, now.
Her new home is nearly finished.
I can't wait for her to get in there and really stretch out....:)
[I'm rapidly running out of room for *myself*, here!]....:O
