-
Correction, $400 haha. Its an AMAZING snake...do I need both kidneys? I'm guessing I could get $1,000 for one of mine easily.
-
The slams are all $800 so far....not for me!

Huge prices, perhaps... I can't help but laugh at his auctions sometimes, especially when his buddies jack up the prices for him.
Up for bid we have an average looking snake that most breeders would sell for $200 shipped.
First bid: $10
Second bid: $20
Third bid: $30
A few bids later: $150
Buddy bid: $275!!!
Next bid: $276
Buddy bid: $400!!!
Ben: Awwww, c'mon, this is high quality stuff! Bid, bid, bid!!!
Some rich kid: $425
SOLD!
Sorry, but I'm just calling it like how I see it. I know he has some decent animals/deals, but his auctions are a joke for the most part. Same with his slam deals. I've seen those little collapsible hooks slam for $10-12 shipped on his auctions. I can go down to PetCo and get it for $8.95 or the mom & pop store and pay $7.95.
-
A male albino is at 375, and it doesn't look that great and thats exactly what seems to have happened. The bid was at 275 then jumped to 325.....most sane peope wouldnt jump a price like that.
-
Iv been watching it and I have yet so see anything that I couldn't get at a expo for cheaper.
After looking on his site. Some of the snakes are cheaper to just buy them on the site then they are getting up to on the auction.
-
Re: black fridayy.
slam slam slam slam slam... so annoying! *unsubscribes*
-
yeah the BHB "sale" was stupid.. an example...they had an $830 snake on there and they would mark it down to like $800... big freaking whoop
-
Re: black fridayy.
 It's an Auction you bid the amount you're willing to pay. If the item passes your limit you can continue to bid or quit. If you can get it cheaper then do so. I don't bid on Auctions until the end to see how far the amount goes and if I'm willing to pay it. By then if it's already over market value then there's no reason for me to waste my time, I don't care how much I want it.
If you do your homework, know the value of what you're biding on and how much you're willing to bid then your good. Either you win it or you don't, that's just the way it is, it's a chance you take if not,.. then just buy it some where else and or don't bid at all.
I watch his Auctions for a chance to get items cheaper than market value nothing more nothing less. If he has people on there jacking up the prices,.. that's fine they're stuck with an over priced item not me. Unless they have some other arrangements where they're not actually paying what they're biding. But that makes no since what so ever, then Ben would be screwing himself.
Sometimes I question Auctions with stock photos instead of actual photos of animals. Those could be from Auctions that his friends over bid and ended up with. But even then very few people would remember what it looked like anyway unless it was a recent Auction or something that really stood out.

Re: black fridayy.
Hi,
We don't really have the black friday tradition over here obviously.
But are you really complaining someone gave you money off when they didn't need to and you are getting upset you don't think they gave enough of a discount?

I am disappointed at the black friday sales I've seen so far. Everything is true about BHB and Ben Siegal. There's really no savings going on, not nearly as much as they lead you to believe at any rate.
-
ugg so many people watching Ben Seigal are upping prices on auctions that dont end for 3 hours and they are just racking up the bill...at this rate it will be a better deal to buy from his website lol.
Oh well...tis the season.
-
You expect more than $5 on a "HUGE SALE OF THE CENTURE OFFRING GIGANTIC DISCOUNTS" Then you get on the page and its $5 off a $350 snake lol. Its more getting your hopes up to see 50 dollars off a snake like that only to be let down. They'll make up the $5 in shipping. But you are right, they dont have to give a discount at all...

I've been keeping an eye out on the auctions to see if there is any savings to be had.
They upped the spilotes to the point where it is more expensive than the going market rate. It stands at $170 right now. I had issues moving last years hatchlings at $150.
I've bid on auctions before, so I'm a bit perplexed - I've never seen one (until today) where the bidding goes like this:
10
21
75
160
250
500
Whatever happened to reasonable increments?
-
-
Wasn;t planning on it but I just slammed a bp book from Ben Siegel lol

I just did something similar to Ben's Ivory auction. I want that specific snake and I bid what I am willing to pay for it, knowing that it would probably have gotten there eventually anyway. Is that bad auction etiquette? :P

The auction ends at a certain time.......right?
So why would you jump to your target price with time still on the clock? Why not hang back and see how things look about 5 minutes before the end of the bidding?
Some of those bids are going for full retail price on those animals, so what's the point?
Again, I'm seeing animals go for OVER what the going rates are. It isn't necessarily Ben's fault, but it makes you wonder.................
Case in point - I see lessers advertised in the $350 range. The auction is already at $350 with 4 hours left to go........

Very true. Hardly ever a good deal on the auctions, except sometimes for single gene animals. But at least he runs a legit auction. I find NERD's auctions particularly laughable. When they they are suppose to end, they say "last call", and then keep the bidding going as long as they can. People end up way over-paying for snakes.

Re: black fridayy.
Good deals can be gotten if you go into the auction with a clear and level head. There is a point to jumping the bid to what you will pay. One of my good friends won the albino paradox male ben auctioned up a few months ago, 2 hours into the auction she bid 600 bucks. She was not bid against, now for an albino male not a good deal but find a paradox albino for 600. I know the paradox is not reproducible accept by freak accident but its cool, not many people have one. The bottom line is she wanted that male and every one was like ohh I will bid 75 bucks..... If you want it bid on it if you dont like the price or dont want it dont bid on it. The thing is as a seller doing an auction has 2 possible effects, people get in the I must win state of mind and bid rediculously or every one shoots to low ball, In that aspect it kind of evens out.
I do understand the complaint if there is someone bidding the auction up just to raise the price, it sucks but you cant change it, and again if you dont like the price dont bid on it, just use some common sense
-
in my opinion if you get the slam deals i know it isnt tht hard, but it should be free, anyone else agree?;)
-
Well, at least I'm not the only one who thinks these auctions are a joke. I was almost afraid of getting raped for talking out against them. :gj:

same thought here, i figured someone would be on here talking smack about people who actually know how to conserve money, even if the deal is a "$2 off" a dollars off doesnt really make a difference when you add up shipping, and the snake, tubs, etc.
-
One thing really bothered me about Ben's auction.
I bid on his Axanthic joliff girl, She was supposed to end at 1pm! so i hit my bid exactly at 1 even at 12:59 too. Another person bid at 101 and so i out bid him anyways, just for fun since he bid outside the time frame. Just by a dollar.
Then Ben says OVER TIME on that specific girl.
She was a browned out Axanthic at 70 grams. but it really made me mad that i was obviously the winner at 1pm like he stated but he had to put her in over time. I call BS.
-
Think about it. You go to an ADVERTISED auction from a huge breeder and expect to get a kick @$$ deal? I wouldn't hold my breath...
With that being said, there ARE great deals out there at all of their auctions..(BHB, NERD, etc...) Just less than a month ago, I won an AWESOME Black Blood Python from NERD, (The same one in which they had her picture tied to everthything-she's a beauty.) i won her at 76 bucks. On a smaller facebook auction, the week before, I won a male 300g mojave for like 65 bucks.
yeah, these are single gene animals but who cares? They are good looking snakes and they went for way BELOW market value. It all depends WHEN you hit up the auctions i guess...
