    Crestie opinions?
Hey guys, I am wanting another Herp and I am thinking about a Crestie. From what I have seen they seem super easy to take care of (no heat source needed, powder food, fairly small cages, etc.) I would like opinions from owners on if they really enjoy theirs, or if they would direct me towards a different herp. Any opinions are welcome.

    Thanks,
    Alex

They require more than powder for food (you need to prep it, or use baby food to supplement), but I love ours. They are super fun to play with, have great personalities, and they are easy!

I picked up my first this past Saturday and he is amazing: they have the most curious and personable personalities! You can feed them just CGD (mixed with water) but I hear that dusted crickets makes them grow faster than ones on just CGD (though each are individuals). I'm really enjoying mine so far and he's a super easy little guy to care for.

Well I realize you don't just give them the powder. Its two parts water to one part powder, right?

Depends on the powdered food you are using.

Repashy CGD: "Mix one part MRP [meal replacement powder] with two parts water by volume, as a starting point. As fed, MRP should be like a thick milkshake"

Those are the instructions on my CGD bag.

Yes you can just use the mrp. The repashy Is the only one I would suggest doing that with though. For all of my cresties though I do throw crickets in about 1x weekly. I like to give them the treat and they go crazy for them. The repashy food is formulated to be a full meal if mixed properly.
Cresties are awesome easy animals. I love having my colony around.

Btw, I'd never use baby food to supplement the mrp with. I'd never give baby food to any crestie at all in general. It can actually be more harmful to use the baby food then anything. It's not a balanced food for them.

For Repashy CGD, that is rougly what i add! I have a consistency I like, and just add water as needed until it gets the way I like it.

cresties are awesome, easy, and fun. I wouldn't call thier cages small (2x18''x2 is my preferred, though I also use up-ended 20G highs for some smaller animals.

    I highly recommend them :)

I've had mine for about a year now, and she's super easy! Also have a male crestie that my room mate is letting me keep, so I'm thinking some pairing might come up in the next year or so. They're interesting little critters, and fun to watch

I love my cresties. They are really easy to care for, I've been feeding just CGD, but I'm going to start giving them some crickets once a week. One thing no one has mentioned is that they don't really drink out of water bowls so you should mist them nightly so they can lick the water off the walls and decorations.

I can't wait until my little guys get bigger. They are a great pet. :)
