    **HELP: Johnson A419 Thermostat!!!**
Ok so, the problem is that I just purchased a Johnson a419 thermostat. MY HUSBAND thought that he KNEW HOW () to do the wiring as it is NOT pre-wired.

We are completely stumped on how to do it and even have a friend of his looking at it and we have no clue what to do.

    Here are the pictures:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    tie your 2 greens together

tie the 2 whites together with a lead coming out of that. thats where you see the the white wire going on the board.

ok,,, the black wire(from the power strip that your gonna plug your flexwatt too) needs to go to the far right (on the right side block) in the pic, this is the darler black.

your other black wire (that is coming from the power) will go to the far right position ON THE LEFT BLOCK. a jumper will go with this black wire,,, and then go to the MIDDLE post on the right block...

BEWARE: im not responsible for frying your stat... iv tried to explain the best i know how...

there are "pins that you will need to set acording to your preference of settings. if you need, ill try to find my directions where i took notes as to how mine are set.

    Hi,

    For future refference Reptile basics has the instruction manuals available to download from its site;

    http://www.reptilebasics.com/instruction-manuals

The wiring instructions are on page 2 and 3 of the manual. :)

LOL, thanks and sorry for the delay. With Thanksgiving on the way I have been so busy the last few days.

I DO HAVE THE thermostat connected. HOWEVER, it is reading 172 degrees on the display. The HOTSIDE is at 110 on one rack and the other rack it is reading 92-94. I am confused as I SET the thermostat at 93.....

I have 2 racks and the probe is on taped to the flexwatt on one of the shelves. All the flexwatt (4 shelves) are connected to the 6 way.

Just can't get the temps done right.....

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

Are all pieces of flexwatt the same wattage?

Is the thermostat wired the same way as the instruction manual?

Is it set to cooling or anything like that?

Yes the thermostat is wired as pictured. The flexwatt that is showing a reading of 92-94 hot spot is 6 watts per foot 110V the one that is reading at 110 hot spot is 10 watts per foot. Would I have to use a different thermostat? Is that why my thermostat is showing a 172 degree on the display?

Also, I used different connectors to connect the wire to the flexwatt. The connectors on the 10 watt is http://beanfarm.com/images/products/...psetweb_lg.jpg

The one that I used for the 6 watt is http://cn1.kaboodle.com/img/b/0/0/15...=1305966297000

    Thanks. =)

All the flex a watt has to be identical PER thermostat.;)

    Re: **HELP: Johnson A419 Thermostat!!!**
Your T-stat could be reading wrong temps because you did not twist the shield back on the probe wire. Johnson controls are very sensitive to low volt interference. I just did a Johnson controls system at True Religion Brand Jeans design facility and it can be very comlicated. Try twisting the shield which is a silver jacket inside the rubber jacket back around the probe wire(back towards the actual probe end) and tape it off. BTW, as Dr. Del stated, you should be using the same wattage Flexwatt as the higher wattage stuff is going to get hotter than the lower wattage stuff.

BTW, I'm not seeing a probe wire hooked up in your pictures. Did you hook it up at all?

Im NOT. I hit menu. Then it flashes SP SP. So I put in the TEMP that I WANT. Which is 93 for a 90 hot spot in the bin that they are in. So it sets and then right away goes to that temp on there currently (175).

    Thats what I don't understand....

    Re: **HELP: Johnson A419 Thermostat!!!**
IT says 175 on the DISPLAY but I put the little round thermometer on top of the hot side in the bins and it reads the following HOT spot temps:

On the 10 watt Flexwatt (per ft) 3"- 110 HOT spot
On the 6 watt Flexwatt (per ft) 3"- 92-94 HOT spot

    I'm so confused...

I already know I have to get a new thermostat for the 10 watt Flexwatt. That way the 6w has its own thermostat and the 10w has its own thermostat. IM CONFUSED as it WHY it reads 175 on the display as the temp in the room is between 78-85.

I went to the manual thing that came with it (also the same as the link the admin posted on the previous page) and to an inexperienced person (only electrical I do is on a car and its not amps which would explain that I have no idea what a jumping thingy is)....the manual sound like a bunch of foreign language to me! :rolleye2:

Anyway, called an army buddy of my husbands who actually got it all figured out a couple days ago just can NOT figure out the temp thing. My husband said that there were 2 black things and that they were both on one prong and he moved them so that it could be set on both prongs. Whatever that means...lol
