    The Boaphile?
I placed an order for a new rack from Jeff Ronne, aka the Boaphile, based on his excellent reputation. I ordered it and paid via paypal on Wednesday night. I have the paypal reciept, but I never recieved an email confirmation from Jeff. I emailed him last night and still have not recieved a reply.

I only want to know that my order has been recieved. I understand there's a few weeks turnaround and that's fine. But no contact from him is a bit disconcerting.

Has anyone else ordered from the Boaphile? Is this typical? I don't mean to be impatient with the transaction; I guess I'm just used to a little more communication from the seller.... Any help/advice would sure be appreciated!

I've never dealt with them before, however I have heard it's like pulling teeth to contact them. Sorry :( good luck with your order though!

I haven't ordered anything from them but I'm planning on getting some racks. I sent an email and it took several days to hear back. But I've only heard good things about their products. So maybe they just arn't big on the email thing?

That's kinda the norm from what I've heard, I've inquired about a few animals in the past and rarely got a response from Jeff.

if it helps put your mind at ease, I do own a boaphile ballroom rack and I did not receive any confirmation of my order. I did call jeff twice during the six week waiting period, and each time he picked up and assured me that my order had been processed. like you I worried about the lack of any confirmation email (other than paypal telling me I'd sent the funds), but boaphile just appears to be one of those companies from which you have to accept a certain amount of ambiguity.

I would gladly purchase from them again, and I have absolutely no complaints other than the lead time. indeed I think they sell some of the best cages on the market (although I am looking to purchase all my future racks from RBI due to the comparable quality, reduced wait time, and excellent customer service). jeff from boaphile is certainly no scammer, and the products speak for themselves. unfortunately you might have to deal with little to no email communication. however if you call them, you should undoubtedly expect at least a call back or an in-person verification.

either way, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. what exactly did you order? please do post a thread when you get the product.

I have ordered from him before. It is my experience that it is hard to get ahold of them via email. You need to send multiple emails to get a response. My order took 2-3mths to actually recieve, which I wasn't to happy about, but the quality is there. I'm very happy with the rack, but would have liked better service. I haven't heard of anyone NOT recieving their ordered products, it just takes a good while. Hope everything works out for you! :)

Thanks a bunch everyone! This does put my mind at ease a bit. At least this appears to be the norm. I do wonder a bit about the lead time as his website does say only 3-5 weeks - not 6 months. I'm going to be acquiring a few more snakes in the spring so I'll need it by February. Guess we'll see...

I got the 5 drawer sideways rack with 2 of the larger tubs and 6 smaller tubs. Seemed to offer lots of flexibility.

    Thanks again!

Bought that same rack a few months back and had no issues. I called with my questions because on the website it says that is the best way to get in touch. I was given a 4 to 5 week time frame but my order arrived in 3.5 weeks. I also got a shipping notice with tracking number via email.

I ordered a 421D from him. I got the receipt, that's all, I emailed him twice, no response. I also receive an email with the tracking number. I received the cage 7 weeks later with a small problem. I called, no answer. He called back 10 minutes later and we got the problem taken care of. He's a very nice man and was my pleasure to deal with. If only he could produce them a little quicker.

I called him this week with a pricing question. I got him on the first try..

I would bet he's just the type of guy that keeps himself busy and just doesn't click on his email.

It seems that his customers are happy with the product and that's all that matters,

Update: I called him again Wednesday night and he called me back. He did have to look for my order which was somewhat disconcerting but he did find it right away and all's good. He said he'd send me a tracking for the package in about 4 weeks. I can handle that! Assuming that happens, I'll be satisfied. :gj:

Thanks for all the reassurances! It really did help!

I've posted this before, but my experience with boaphile was:

    1) Place online order
    2) email, no response
    3) two phone calls in the following four weeks, prompt answers to my questions
    4) product arrived exactly when stated it would
    5) I've been very happy with the product for.. 9 months now?

I'm going to be their customer again in the future for sure.

this is exactly how I feel as well. I understand that many people require email responses to do business, and perhaps it might be shortsighted to be as unavailable via email as jeff is. however, as I stated previously, the boaphile
products speak for themselves. it won't be acceptable to everyone in this day and age, but if you can handle a protracted waiting period (ideally by planning ahead), and if you're willing to pick up a phone to ask your questions or verify any ambiguous information, there's no reason you shouldn't order from them.

also I previously neglected to say that I did receive a tracking number when the rack was completed and dropped off for delivery. it was the only electronic communication I received from the company, and it came six weeks after I'd made the initial purchase, but while jeff may prefer one method of communication over another, he certainly delivers what you pay for.
