new pet store pick up (DUW) pls help id morph

idk how many of you remember the thread i started about a bp at a pet store near me that was being sold as a pastel but obviously wasnt, well this is that bp. about a month after i found the snake i was finally able to go down and get it and bring it home today. idk the sex or how old it is or what the morph is for sure but i knew i wanted it and now i have it. i just picked it up today so theres a bunch of shed on it but in a few days ill soak it and get that off. in the old thread there was what looked like burns on its back, that turned out to just be some stuck shed thats now gone. i hope these pics are better able to help id the morph so any thoughts are welcome, thnx!

not great with morphs but you might want to soak him in warm water ASAP to help take care of that horrific shed

Poor thing needs a serious soaking :( Definitely not pastel, however it does appear to be possibly something other than "normal". Those circles on his back are killer. Either way good luck, really cool pickup :gj:

Looks like a Black Pastel. Nice snake, it's gonna look great without all that crap all over it.

The pics arent the greatest,I cant see black pastel characteristics, imo it looks like a funky patterned normal.

x2 looks kinda like the color of a black pastel but i'm not seeing the characteristics of one. Nice job saving him :)

It'll be easier to judge once the stuck shed is off him - but he does look like he could be something to me.

I can't decide between black pastel ( colour seems off ) mojave ( blushing seems off ) or something in the BEL complex a little more subtle. :oops:

Better pics once you get the stuck shed off will definitely help. We need better lighting and a full body shot from the top of the snake.

As for getting the stuck shed off, if you haven't already. I soak mine in a small plastic tub with a hand towel in the tub. Then once they have soaked for about 15 minutes I run the wet hand towel down their body. If it doesn't work soak the snake for another 15 mins and try again. Make sure you keep the water temp up, you don't want to get the snake cold and sick.

another clue is that the pet shop tried to sell it as a "pastel" when they might have meant to say "black pastel". they probably paid little attention to the full name, or couldn't remember what the original owner called it :weirdface

thnx for a ll the replies. my first thought when i saw him was mojave also and looking at some pics thats what i see. ive always thought that black pastels looked a lot more like cinnamons but i looked at low quality black pastels and i can see a resemblance there too.

ill be getting the stuck shed off today and ill get better pics up in a week or so when my brother gets back, he's got a decent digital camera rather than the crappy cell pics ive got here.

idk whether its a boy or girl because i still havent figured out how to pop them :confused:. if its a boy then ive got a cinny girl and a pastel girl to see try and prove it out that way and if its a girl then ive also got a pastel boy and a pewter boy to see what i get there. now i just need to get either a mojave or lesser and try to prove it out as a mojave. yay a new reason to buy a new snake :P

I'm gonna go with Mojave, but waiting until the better pics come up. The pattern and belly look very identical, however the color is a little off. Once we get those better photos it'll be way easier to tell.

I do think that this has got to be something other than a normal. That super clean, white belly cannot be of "normal" criteria.

I thought mojave as well.

Poor guy was in bad shape with that shed...what a shame.

I would say Mystic before Mojave on this one. Where did the animal come from?

i got all the shed off yesterday and he looks so much better. he's plenty fat but they only had him a little over a month so there wasnt enough time for him to lose much weight.

he came from a pet shop, and i think they said the guy they got him from jsut didnt wanna take care of him anymore so no idea how to actually figure out his origin.

and my brother should be back sometime this week and ill get a bunch of pics with his camera for you guys.

I 100% say Mojave. The wierd patterned spotting is exactly how mine was.

as promised here are the pics with a better camera. the color is off since i dont have a light tent but i tried to use sunlight. he's actually got more of a yellow tint to him then the brown. thnx for any help.

I'm seeing a high speckled Mojo over a Black pastel, but I still wouldn't rule out the possibility of it being an interesting normal. Nice guy/girl either way.

Im thinking its a mojaves and one of its parents where really busily(i speek good english :D) patterned. But either way its a nice looking ball. Gotta love how store just say yeah we will take it to re sell n make cash but they wont even ask what it is......... yeah love it.

Looks like a wicked Mojave. The eye color and better photos definitely made me think so. I am so sure that this is a Mojave but it has a sweet pattern for one too.

thnx for all the replies. for now im going to put mojave at the top of the probable list until i can prove it out. now the only thing i gotta figure out is the sex. if i just picked up a female mojave for a hundred bux ill be super stoked lol. but seeing as how these things dont usually go as planned, itll probably be a male, but thats still super awesome lol. thnx again!

Yup, I also say black pastel. The speckling in the tan area of the key holes give it away. I don't see mojave. If it is in fact a black pastel, it is a very interesting one.

If it were me I would breed it to either a known mojave or black pastel and see what comes out, like Dr. Del said.

as soon as i figure out the sex ill start looking for a bf or gf for it. i like both the black pastel and mojaves so ill prolly get one of each. hopefully this ones a female since shes already a little bigger and i can get a couple hatchling males this season. if its a boy ill prolly have to wait a few years before the females grow up, tha tor get some 2 yr old girls, but thats super expensive lol.

looks nice I say it possible a black pastel with a bit a of grantie into it too.
OI not really good with the combo Iding yet .

I'd go with black pastel over mojave. Like others have said wrong color wrong blushing. He is really cool though. Good good pick up! That's a definate keeper!
