cant get humidity abover around 25%
:banana:tried everything :taz: even took about 4 paper towels soaked them and put them under my ceramic heat bulb! using repti bark as substrate.. might swap to coco dirt after this though i got my temps right.. hotside 2 heatpads and my ceramic heat bulb.. pads are set at 92 go from 89 to 95. :colbert: cold side is around 70 - 75 and she is ALWAYS in that hide.. but right now as i looked over i think i just found out why.. they are the 56% wood hides and the one she is in. the opening is much bigger.. hmm i just dont want my snake to be uncomfortable :( any ideas  sorry for the bannanas and taz friends 2 year old is sitting on my lap insisting i click them

How are you regulating the heat?

Did you check to see if its the humidity gauge not just causing the problem. Your gauge might of broke.

Well the heat lamp is the reason the humidity is bad, can you use only the UTH with the thermostat? In my experience most heat lamps make the enclosure way too hot anyways...

The ceramic heat bulb is sucking the humidity out. Glass tanks and heat bulbs are humidity killers!

This is all to true. I used to have my bp's housed in glass tanks and they were always trying to escape and the humidity was just crap. I use tubs in a rack now and I don't have any more problems with snakes trying to escape or low humidity.

if you only use a uth and no heat lamp.. wont the "cool side" drop too low?

Depends on how big of a tank you are using and how cold it gets in your house...

You could get another UTH and plug it into the t-stat that the lamp was plugged into. Set it around 80

Temps are always more important than humidity. Low humidity generates bad sheds low temps mean the animal cannot digest food septesemia and eventually death.

The easy solution is a humid hide and forget the ambient humidity. It is simple and easy.

When I used tanks I covered at least 3/4 of the screen top with glad press n seal, I would cover everything but where the lamp sits more if you don't have a loap on. It sticks on great and keeps the humidity in much better. I use coco bedding for all mine, it's great because you can regulate the humidity. I pour a bit of water in one corner of the tank, just a small corner so your snake is not sitting in wet bedding which is bad and/or mist them 1-2 times a day depending on where the humidity is at, more if it's lower or they're in shed. I also use a temp gun to check the temps so you have a accurate way of checking the temps everywhere in the tank. Other ways may tell you the air temp and the temp your snake feels at the bottom of the tank may be much different. I only have two snakes still in tanks and they have one heat pad each with a thermostat, 2 pads and a lamp sound like a lot.

A humid hide can be made from any container or hide just place peat moss or spagnum moss inside damped and done. The only concern is to avoid closed holes U shaped holes are best snakes can never get stuck in a U.

moist, wet it and wring out most of the water and use that. It should not be wet but feel damp.

i put a damp towel over the top, wet it and ring it out every so often, ring it out less when shedding comes around

i have a large glass tank with a screen top, uth and ceramic heat emitter

She'll seek it out if she needs it. It may take a few days for her to decide to explore it, but it will happen eventually ;)
