Phoenix Reptile Expo Pics and Pickups! (DUW)
Me and the bf went to the Phoenix Reptile Expo today and had a blast :) It was our first expo and even though we thought it would be larger there was a really nice variety of animals to be seen.

    Tons of pics!!

If I had $350 extra dollars more than what I brought I would have snatched this guy up:

I striked out on any bloods and bulls, but I did find some great pickups and my bf got what he wanted too :D

    My pickups:

"Gambit": cute minimal dalmation spot Crested Gecko proven male, 34 grams. My main goal was to find a Crestie and though I thought there would be a lot more I am very happy to come home with this guy. All I wanted was something spotty, frog butt, and male.

    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...o/Crestie2.jpg

"DiOra": Gorgeous Sharp strain Albino female BCI that I almost missed out on (we almost skipped the table). There was another Sharp albino girl and a Kahl but IMO this girl was the most stunning. She's 132 grams.

    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...harpAlbino.jpg

"Vera": Snow cornsnake female, 2010 hatch. She has a ton of gorgeous yellows along her cheeks and upper body and I was happy I found a snow that was already on fuzzies so I wouldn't have to buy a whole bag of pinkies. 33 grams.

    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...o/SnowCorn.jpg

last but not least, "Telly": very cute little Pastel female. Best pastel girl that I found at the show: she has such gorgeous colors that unfortunatly I couldn't pick up through her plastic container. When everyone's settled I'll be getting new pics. She is 162 grams.

    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...telFemale2.jpg

    The BF's pickups:

Awesome lesser male produced by the same guy who I got little Telly from. He was a steal IMO and his colors are stunning. If I was in the market for a little lesser boy (I want a girl) I would have snatched him in a heartbeat too! He's a tiny 85 grams.

    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...esserMale2.jpg

Cute and very steely colored Dumeril's Ground Boa male. Very calm and sweet. 130 grams.

    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3.../Dumerils3.jpg

We're already looking forward to next year's expo :gj:

The breeder we got the BPs from is Dan Solis, I don't know if he's a member here but I've seen his name around quite a bit. He was a pretty cool guy to work with.

    Nice pickups!

I'm hoping that sometime in my lifetime I can experience one of these expos for the first time. xD

    Thanks,

Great choice with the crested, he's stunning! I've always had a thing for albino boas. Thanks for the pics, it makes me excited to go tomorrow.

Your albino BCI, is very pretty. I need to post pics of the one I got on tuesday, letting the mouse she ate digest a little more first :)

Thanks everyone, it was a blast :)

eel588: I think you won't have a problem finding what you're looking for, there was a great selection (though like mentioned: I was surprised about the lack of Cresties).

But on Gambit's note: he already ate a full bottle cap of his CGD tonight and I think he likes his setup: it has more leaves and branches in there than the rainforest! Plus two caves, a climbing wood, and a humid hide.

Me and my bf's snakes are doing good so far too, all are just settling in :P Very happy about our first expo experience.

Thx for the pics. I don't get to go this year. Too many family bdays to attend, and I don't have the money. I can live vicariously through your post. Thx again.

Dan is a great guy and is out of LA. I bought my pinstripe and lesser from him and they are both awesome. Real cool about meeting me for local pickups. Now if I can only convince my better half to let me buy a couple of more bps from him.

You know...I don't remember :( There was so many snakes everywhere it was had to keep track of who had who after walking around so many times!

The turtle was actually a species of turtle (can't remember the name): but the vendor had little babies with the same neck too. Pretty crazy.

He gave me a little discount on the pastel female since my bf bought the little lesser male he had as well :gj:

I thought sharps went for more than that? Must be sharp snows I'm thinking of. Very nice additions. :gj: :)

I wasn't too convinced that the Dumerils I picked up was male, so sexed it tonight... Looks like I got a female. I'll try again next week to confirm but pretty sure as it is right now.

I believe they usually do (I've seen Lipsticks go for even more than Sharps), and any snow goes for a good $500+

The same vendor had another Sharp and a Kahl, all for $250 so I picked the one I liked best: all I wanted was a nice, clean albino female so I wasn't concerned about the strain (or unknown strain). I'm happy with her :gj:

I picked up the fire ringer female dan had. Its my 9th snake from him. He's a good guy. I had my eye on that pastel and I would have snagged the lesser het hypo boy you got if it was female. I approve, nice animals :)

The one I picked up was just a straight lesser, he also had a male lesser het ghost though, maybe thats what youre thinking of? I liked that one as well but I liked this one better, and the price couldn't be beat.
