    Show me your hides!
    What the title says :P

Volvagia finally outgrew her clay flower pot, and I accidentally broke her skull hide, so now I need 2 new hides... But I want something different... Something you don't see every day.

In other words, let me steal an idea from you guys

They sell those clay pots in all sizes! I guess it's unfortunate that they get so much taller as they get bigger around, though... I have the perfect piece of wood for Jackson, he really seems to like it. I moved it to the other side once, and he follows it around. It's just naturally shaped really well, though, so that's really no help. It's almost spider shaped, with "legs". He's getting too big for it and I too have been seeking a replacement...

For my big guys I use the fountain soda boxes I get for free at work. You could get these for free at any restaurant/bar. They even have a pre cut hole and everything! :D
Its not very pretty or anything but its free and has great function for a hide

When I get my baby ball around X-mas I'm just going to use butter containers. Shouldn't have to post pics of that xD.

    Thanks,

Yea, after having a skull hide, going back to boxes or cups or plastic pots ain't gonna cut it... I'm very picky about aesthetics LOL

I was considering getting a block of wood and carving it, or making hide made of rocks... Idk

Amazon is usually one of the first things I go to. Usually have better prices (even if by a couple pennies lol) and Super Saver Shipping. :)

    Thanks,

I probably won't be much help here, but I use these for our balls:

    http://npicages.com/cgi-bin/image/te...hide-boxes.jpg

For our baby corns we use toilet paper rolls cut in half lengthwise. Free and disposable.

Sorry, we aren't very creative. Everything is kept in racks, so we aren't too concerned with aesthetics, just simplicity and function.

I gave up on pretty hides a long time ago, lol.

I use empty kleenex boxes for small balls and then tortilla warmers for large balls.

The kleenex box is a good idea! I'll have to steal it from ya. xD Do you just keep it to where the "entrance" is on the top?

Here are some that I made with landscaping stones from Home Depot/Lowes.

Obviously want to make sure that the stone's can't fall over on your snake. Just get a few different sizes of stones and try and make something with it. They are super cheap, usually less than a dollar a stone. They also tend to hold heat and humidity really well.

I use lots of boxes from work myself! For the babies, it's usually small cigar boxes. For my bigger girls I use various boxes from work as well. They're great cuz I can get various sizes according to each snake and toss the old ones when they get dirty. :D Although....I discovered the baby balls don't like the cigar boxes that smell like the flavors. lol

    But this........

I like using Exo-Terra hides, I'll get some pics tomorrow. To make some quick hides I cut an entrance in plastic bowls of any side.

I actually use the small square ones for babies, so I just lay them on their side. Let me find a picture....

Couldn't find a snake pic, but here are two rats using one of the hides. :P

I spent years buying expensive pretty hides and finally gave up spending $10-$20 on a hide and having my snakes ignore it or sit on top of it lol. After lots of experiments they're favorite hide is cereal boxes, cake boxes for the little ones. Everyone in the house saves all the cardboard boxes for them now lol. They're tight, dark, and nice and snug, just how they like it. And they're disposable, no more washing hides, come in lots of colors, and technically your recycling so good for the environment to.

I use these for all my youngins. Once they grow out of these, they don't get anything.
    http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...Isis/028-2.jpg

Or these, lol. I have a couple that think their water bowls double as hides.

I use a variety of different hides, including both store-bought and homemade...

X-Small Exoterra cave (with a baby OG)
    http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/IMG_1499.jpg

Random plastic bowl, I think from the Dollar Store - couldn't find anything store-made for this fat corn!
    http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/IMG_1488.jpg

She used to have a cardboard box, until it got nasty.
    http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...2/DSCF5132.jpg

XL Exoterra, with a BP who's obviously in need of an upgrade... LOL. :D
    http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/IMG_1238.jpg

They make these in larger sizes, but this little corn LOVES hers!
    http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/IMG_0374.jpg

Upside-down Animal Plastics hide (I think in Large?) with a 2yo Lesser girl... these are my favorite hides, and they're very reasonably priced.
    http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/IMG_0810.jpg

Another homemade plastic bowl hide, which my JCP has now outgrown... so this thread will be useful, since he needs a new one.
    http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/IMG_0227.jpg

Yogurt tubs work great for small snakes, so maybe plastic buckets for adults?
    http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...s/DSCF3444.jpg

And finally, the kitty litter box... great for BIG BPs, but unfortunately this girl didn't like hers (she prefers no hide).

I like to use corkwood hides, its natural real wood and gives your terrarium that legit outdoor feeling. Plus its fairly cheap, around $1.50 a pound.

But of course tuberware and sterilite is always a cheaper route to go :gj:

Here is one of my hides:

    http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/...gfat7/bear.jpg

Okay I'm just kidding. I made this hide out of a birdhouse. cut an opening and then plugged the round hole in the middle of it, and then used a wood burner to put designs on the house. He really loves this thing. I have another one finished and the butter tub is out of there! Thank goodness!

@Munzifire That's a beautiful setup! Great idea with the landscape bricks !
I'm using the lid from a ZooMed repti-shelter 3-in-1 a friend gave me. Looks like a rock.
