What snakes do you want to own?
This is a simple thread that there are probably more of but I am going to use it for future prospecting as well. Just post what type of snake is on your "wish list" and post a generalized picture of it. I'm not really expecting anybody will participate but all well. I'll start since I started the thread:
Normal Ball:
I shouldn't really need to post a pic of this.
Brazilian Rainbow Python:
I love the look of these Boas. The way they shine blue when light hits them. They look remarkable and hope to see and own one at some point.

Green Tree Boa:
I heard they are difficult to raise since they are bad temperamental. I like challenges. Plus the way they change colors from a baby to adulthood is pretty cool.

Thanks,
RJ

Your pic is of a Green Tree Python.
They are in many ways similar to an Emerald Tree Boa.
As far as what I'd like goes, my list includes several from the Morelia genus (IJ carpet, GTP, maybe bredli, though bredli get a little large for my taste), Woma python, Stimson's python, and the beautiful Brazilian Rainbow Boa. My brother has a few BRBs, and having seen them in person and handled them, they are amazing, even as babies.
As far as what I'll ever end up getting, well, my GF loves our geckos, but is not terribly enthusiastic about snakes, so it'll probably just be the the Stimson's python, if anything. A guy can dream, right?
-
Aside from a handful of BP morphs (Lesser/Butter/Spider/Pinstipe/Woma/Enchi/or combos thereof), I eventually plan to get:
A pair of Hogg Islands
A Hognose (I live in IL though, so got a couple hoops to jump first lol)
An Amazon Tree Boa (Either a really dark garden (jungle?), or a red/orangey one)
And some sort of blood python, although I still can't decide what sort I want. I really like blacks, reds, and some of the albino-type morphs are just jaw-dropping.
No photos, my internet hates me right now, everything's loading extra slow -.-

I realized but couldn't edit it out because I realized after the 10 minute limit. :( But a Green Tree Python IS what I meant along with a Brazilian Rainbow Boa (not python). Thanks for pointing it out and participating!
Thanks,

I want a quality breeding group of Green Tree Pythons. They have been my favorite animal since I was a wee little boy, haha. I want to limit the number of species I care for to a minimum and specialize in the few I choose.
-
My "wish" list is way too extensive and long, so I'll post some other species besides BPs that I'd like to work with:
~ Bullsnake (want a snow)
~ Angolan Python
~ Blood Pythons (a Black Blood and a T+ Albino)
~ Another Cornsnake (a snow female)
Other than those, all my other wanted snakes are female boa and ball morphs :)

Never heard of an Angolan Python. So I looked it up. Definitely on my wish list now. :) Thanks for participating!

Re: What snakes do you want to own?
My Wishlist:
1.)Lavender Albino Ball Python
2.)Piebald Ball Python I'm kind of picky with the Piebald. I want one that has evenly spaced patterns like the following:
http://pythonregius.com/images/produ...ld_Large.1.jpg
3.)Bumble bee Ball Python
4.)Super Pastel
Which one should I buy for Christmas? ^_~
-
Ball Pythons aside, the next species on my want list would have to be a False Water Cobra!
-
1) Balls: Albino, Piebald, and an Albino Piebald.
http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/...t7/albinoo.jpg
2) Brazillian Rainbow Boa, one of the most beautiful snakes I think.
http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/...tch_1nov11.jpg
3) Super Dwarf Retic-definitely not ready for a monster lol.

Re: What snakes do you want to own?
this is pretty much my snake list, without all the BP's i want
Papuan python
black head python
bismark ringed python
gold phase white lipped python
olive python
lots of scrub pythons
boelens python
lots of carpet pythons
green tree python
angolan python
blood pythons
burmese python (hypo)
reticulated python (dwarf)
timor python
amazon tree boa
emerald tree boa
madagascan ground boa
king snakes
corn snakes
bunch of other colubrids
venomous:
western diamondback
gaboon viper
Cryptelytrops Venustus
sulawesi waglers viper
one more venomous, idk what i want, but im limiting myself to 5
im planning on getting all the pythons first, then start collecting the boas and colubrids, and hopefully someday some venemous snakes, plus a bunch of lizards/frogs/T's etc. lol, idk how im gonna get all that to work though
-
Re: What snakes do you want to own?
I agree so far about number 2 Joe. xD Thank you all for doing this. I didn't think anybody would. Thanks a ton!

Re: What snakes do you want to own?
I really want a pied, BEL, and spider bp. I also would like to eventually own an albino boa and bredli python.
-
Boelen's python..
Olive python..
Brazilian and a colombian rainbow boa (I keep seeing patternless ones which are gorgeous, but can't find any info on them)
rhino rat snake, as well as a few other awesome colubrids like mexican pine snakes
I dunno.. :) amazon tree boas are epic. Lots of snakes are just awesome!
-
Boelen's Python, Black Headed Python and a Pied Bp
-
I don't have pics of everything I want, but I'll include the few that I do have.
Ball Pythons: Lesser, Lesserbee, kingpin, BEL, and pied
Here's a pic of a beautiful kingpin and BEL:
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...gbutterpin.jpg
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...ckeyedlucy.jpg
And if I could ever afford it, I'd give my eye teeth to get one of these babies: a pastel butter woma...
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...butterwoma.jpg
I also want an assortment of boas. These are actuall a higher priority than the balls (at least for now, lol). I am partial to hypos het for ghost, snows, and/or moonglows and for those 3 morphs themselves, plus albinos and sunglows. I also love the T+ albino (caramel) argentine boas <<drool....>>.
And I definitely want Green Tree Pythons! That is something I can cross off my wishlist in the spring! I am picking up a gorgeous male in March. But I think I'm gonna want more than one...
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...iList/wes1.jpg
Incidentally, this is the ACTUAL GTP I am getting! This is Hunter with the breeder's 8yr old son. You can see how docile he is. GTPs being temperamental can be a myth. There are certainly some that will sooner snag you as look at you, but not all of them are like that. In fact, Hunter's breeder has nearly 30 GTPs and he has told me he only has one that will not be handled. You just need to do your research when looking for one to purchase. :gj:
I would also like a Brazillian Rainbow boa, Dumerils boa, and a black tailed Cribo (colubrid related to the Indigo snake). :D
-
As many morphs of ball python I can get, lol!
More gtps
I had a pair of Brazilian rainbows and would love to aquire them again
Morphs of burms. All I have is albinos.
White phase albino retic.
King Cobra.....I know, crazy right?
-
If i had the house for it and my wife suddenly started benching 300lbs I'd get as many "Large snakes as possible i love every aspect of Burms, Retics, Combo of Retic and burm(Bate-eater or something like that) I REALLY want one of every color of burm and Retic a black Anaconda(just to say I have one) But in reality my 110lb wife and I would not be able to handle an adult of ANY burm or retic... My father would be the only one brave enough to try it and his heart has electrodes in it "just in case" he has another "Episode" as he says so I dream but in reality I'll find someone in the Iowa Herp Society befriend them and maybe eventually see and hold one of theirs A few Venomous snakes would be the Green Vine Snake http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...Vineonpath.jpg
and a Monocled Albino Cobra
http://i817.photobucket.com/albums/z...bite/cobra.jpg
but neither are legal to own where i live
-
Aside from about 30 bp morphs....here's a few of mine and not in order
Hypo, T+ blonde/caramel burmese
Purple phase retic (debating if I want a tiger or norm)
Dwarf retic (or any other smaller sized retic)
Brazilian Rainbow Boa or the Peruvian locale
GTP
Garter snakes
Hognose
And eventually I'd like to work my way into a few hots
Oh...and a few lizards thrown in for good measure :P lol
-
Re: What snakes do you want to own?
if i can ever persuade my better half to give up his "your not gettin' any more snakes" deal i'll someday be able to get the others on my "future hopefuls" list & those are
1) BP - medium white pumpkin piebald
2) BP - butterbee
3) T+ albino nicaraguan boa
4) kingsnake (either a high white or a lavendar albino)
-
I only want a few more balls, not planning to buy more than 10 or 15 (producing is another issue altogether :D ) but I definitely want to start getting into a variety of species
Everything else?
1.1 Dominican Red Mountain boas
1.1 Jamaican Boas (going to try breeding with the DRMs first so I can get the CBW Permit for these)
Boelen's python
Mandarin Ratsnakes
Imperial Pueblan (I know not everyone is crazy about hybrids, but I like how a lot of these look)
Dumeril's boa
Red tailed green ratsnake
Blue Beauty snake
Reduced pattern RTB, I like Guyanas and Surinames a lot
And the list goes on forever... These are just the ones I've either narrowed it down to or priorities I'm working to be able to get to (Jamaican boas, specifically)
-
-about every bp morph
-granite spotted python
-boelens (sp?) Python
-dumerils
-superconda hoggys
-eyelash viper (yellow)
-gaboon viper
-rhino viper
-copperhead
-puff adder
-snow checkered garter
-gtp
-amazon basin tree boa
-lavander albino rectic
-albino granite burm
Etc etc etc

Well, BPs aside because that would be way too long of a list....
A Blood Python (they are SO CHUBBY I must have one!)
Some sort of Boa constrictor, haven't decided what kind yet
Either a butter or gold dust corn snake
Candycane corn snake
Either a kingsnake or a hybrid. I've seen...I think it was Imperial Pueblans? Kingsnake/Pueblan Milksnake I think. Ones with all black bellies. That really tickles me for some reason, and I'd love to have one.
And a hognose!
-
Re: What snakes do you want to own?
Lots of ball python morphs, too many to list. Green tree pythons, Super dwarf tiger calico reticulated pythons, yellow anacondas, green anacondas, Brazilian rainbow boas, red blood pythons, albino Burmese pythons, few different cobras (actually one of the easiest snakes to tame), jungle carpet pythons, coastal carpet pythons, Columbian redtail boas and hog island boas. Personally I have no desire to own anything smaller than a ball python, excluding some green tree pythons which I love.
-
Re: What snakes do you want to own?
Thank you all for participating. Definitely opened up my eyes to some quite beautiful looking snakes.
Thanks all,
RJ

My next snake (hopefully) will be a Black Tailed Cribo.
I would really like to work with Drymarchons.
http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ighlight=cribo
Second would be a high yellow Male Russian Ratsnake to pair with my female.
