I feel bad for the snake. I get the feeling that it's going to end up in sub par conditions and be ill-cared for.

Hopefully whoever is willing to pay that much for a snake will be a reptile lover and not just some crazy bieber fan.

It's for charity, he's not keeping the cash.

I hope that whoever ends up winning, they'll set the snake up right in order to show it off.

that might make a little better,,,,,,,,,, NOT,, if he wanted to give to chairity, he should give some of his own cash,,, im sure that a few G's aint nothing but pocket change to him anyway. animals arent really something you auction off to the general public... and BTW this kid has managers and promoters that are making decisions for him,,, this is just a publisity stunt that is going to be good for all but the snake.

According to the terms of the auction, the winner is expected to provide "quality premium food, fresh water, sanitation and grooming, clean and secure indoor housing, clean and secure outdoor housing and overall safety." The winner must also sign a personal injury and limited liability release. The winner must also guarantee vet care of the snake when necessary.

i like " The snake will grow to nearly 4 feet long." umm its a BCI 5ft is on the small size and 8-9 the max..... i guess they need to do some reading before making a post like this. But i find it most funny that he JUST got the snake and is already getting rid of it. perhaps someone got bit once and wasnt ready for a round 2?

the little prick never handeled the snake but to show it off,, then he passed it to the "keepers".... trends change from day to day where hees at,,, its just a shame that a snake had to be the "trend of the day".

You mean you don't groom your snakes everyday? :P

I honestly think this snake is either going to end up with a reptile hobbiest who is trying to make sure it doesn't end up with someone who won't take care of or it will end up with some teenage girl who has rich parents and is a major Bieber fan. In the latter case I give the boa a month or two tops before it ends up dead or at least in bad condition. I honestly don't think they are going to follow up with the winner to make sure the snake is well taken care of.

It's sad that they think this is okay. I'm sure he could get just as much for one of his t-shirts or even his tooth brush. There is no need to involve an animal. :(

    poor snake...

Yeah its nice that its for charity but it just shows how dumb people are when it comes to celebrity memorabilia. And the fact that this is a LIVING creature, whether its a fish or a puppy. It gets to be a touchy subject.
Maybe im biased cuz i just dont like justin beiber.
I just hope the snake is lucky enough to end up in the right hands.

Ah yes, this is the negative BP.net I have come to know. :) Always assuming the worst, and that no one but themselves could possibly be competent enough to keep a pet snake. Keep it up guys!

lol whoa whoa! Of course were going to assume the snake will fall into the wrong hands. This is an auction for a celebrity pet. Not only that...a snake, which has specific husbandry needs that a person without experience may not provide.

Assuming the kind of people that would WANT to spend thousands of dollars on a RTB that was owned by justin beiber...hell yes were going to assume these people dont know what they are doing.
Regardless of cost people who spend $100 on a snake get them and dont know what their doing.

It doesnt mean they have to be an active member of a forum to be a good snake owner...its just that the people who would most likely bid and buy a snake owned by a celebrity probably doesnt care about anything else other than it was touched/owned by one. Doesnt sound like the best deal for the animal.

Just look at CL and see all the pets that are being sold by people who shouldnt have bought them in the first place...I think the snake will be LUCKY to end up with someone who will keep it for more than a couple months.

Agreed. i just don't see anyone who knows what they are doing, dropping that cash for that snake. Then again, there could be hardcore Boa-keeping Bieber fans. But I'm pretty sure most of those bids were from people who just wanted it to say they have it.

i'm guessing this whole thing is only a big deal because it's justin bieber? i might be missing something, but don't breeders sell their reptiles to strangers all the time? they expect the same thing that's mentioned in the terms, but how often does that happen?.. people sell baby monitors to anyone who will give them the cash, despite knowing how committed the person will be to this animal.

maybe it's because the person who will end up buying the snake is probably going to be someone with a lot of money? hm.. some people dish out a lot of money for fancy WC normal BPs in hopes of proving them out.

personally i don't think much of this situation lol. kids get their parents to buy them reptiles at reptile expos all the time. i wonder if the breeders who vend at reptile shows think "this snot-nosed kid will end up killing this snake i produced because mommy/daddy just wants to make him/her happy, and doesn't care if he/she knows anything about this animal.."

EDIT: i'm sure there are people on this forum who buy reptiles, keep them for a few months, then re-home them :p

    ... just saying lolol
