    INJURED SNAKE, need expert help***graphic***
This morning we found that our young king young calking cut himself last night. Good amount of blood around his cage. I removed him from his classroom "display" and brought him home to his tub. He is active (looking for food no doubt) and doesn't seem to be acting any worse for the ware.
Is this something we need to have a vet sucher up?

I would most definitely have a vet take a look at that.

That's quite a bit of trauma.. the jaw muscle there looks completely exposed and the skin needs to be pulled back over and stitched. Hopefully the vet can fix him up so he doesn't have any permanent problems or get an infection. Good luck

Thank you BPnet and cornsnakes.com communities...
Was able to get Marty right in and he will be in surgery shortly. Current plans are to pick him up this afternoon and bring home for bed rest.
Seems we may need to change our name to Scar Face. Will post up post op pics...

I wish scarface a quick recovery. Do you have any idea how he might have done that? You might want to remove/fix w.e it was in his enclosure so it doesnt happen again.

    Hilarious!

Glad he's doing well and kudos to you for taking him in and not delaying with trying to treat it at home. Sometimes an expert is the best option, in spite of the costs. Hope he recovers with no ill effects and is around for a good long while. Good luck to you and he both!

He has a lockable display terrarium he stays in while at school (the scene of the incident) and a tub (my preference) at home for long weekends and holidays. He will be staying in the tub at home until healed up and will not be going back to terrarium until root cause is determined and fixed.
    Thank you

Back home and resting. Looks like 3-4 suchers and 3 weeks antibiotic (Baytril).
