Favorite Fall Foods
First off, I have to say this: I am really, REALLY bored.
Sorry.
*cough* Well! I, for one, love fall. It's my favorite time of year, with the weather starting to cool down (and as I live on Texas, this is a very welcome thing), the leaves changing colors, and being able to eat some of my favorite foods again.
This thread is for the discussion of foods we associate with fall weather, our favorite ones, and possibly even to post recipes for them.
I'm saying this now, because I can just feel it's going to crop up: No arguing on who's chili is the best.
Because it's mine. *smacked with a rolled up newspaper* ;) Just kidding, I'm sure there are a lot of members with great chili recipes. I have no right to say mine is best, especially since the rest of my family refuses to eat the chili I make (something about "It's too spicy!" And "I taste pain..." And "I need a doctor!" Big babies.)
Anywho! Feel free to talk about any food that you associate with fall here!

Hmmm. Pumpkin roll, spiced cider and venison.

#1 - Pumpkin Pie
#2 - Gingerbread anything
-
Baby lima beans with ham, beef barley soup.
Because I love them both and I can finally cook them without heating the house up to just this side of hellish.

Time to put some deer on the smoker!!!

Turkey.
I am stupid about turkey, I don't wait for Thanksgiving either, I buy two or three at the low prices this time of year, and as soon as it gets cool enough to have the oven on all day, I'm cooking turkey. I eat the leftovers for days, while everyone else in the family turns their noses up after the first meal.
Pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon buttercream frosting. Cookies of all kinds, I'm a baking fool in the fall and winter.

Re: Favorite Fall Foods
My favorite fall food without a doubt is Torta. Torta is like a pancake made from garbanzo beans - and is something my hometown (Livorno, Italy) is famous for. It is only made during the fall and normally eat it inside of fresh bread.
I am totally homesick now. Lol

I love pomegranate season! :D

Ravioli stuffed w/butternut squash & pecorino cheese. Pumpkin works well for this, too.
Venison chili...venison ANYTHING, really.
Roasted pheasant or pheasant pot pie, either with slow-roasted veggies
Chicken & noodles (like chicken noodle soup but not as brothy)
"Chocolate" enchiladas - chicken enchiladas w/a rich, smoky mole sauce involving lots of cinnamon & cacao.
Just a few recent favorites now that things have cooled off...it's a never-ending list. :)

Squash, I love the stuff!

:) Mmmm for sweets, anything warm and with that pumpkin spice!! I also just learned the joy of cooking with other types of squash. I'm so excited I'm getting better at cooking--and having a blast cooking new foods this fall!

Re: Favorite Fall Foods
Pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll, hot spiced cider, turkey and all the fixings are just a few of my favorite fall foods. I can't wait until Thanksgiving day when I can make a feast.

Lol, you guys are all making me hungry!
For my favorites, I would have to list:
Chili
Venison
Apple Pie
Pumpkin Spice Bread
Fried squash
Chicken Sage Stuffing (family recipe)
Most kinds of cookies
Fresh, warm, homemade bread (my grandmother would make bread from scratch at this time of year while she was raising me and my sister)
Monkey Bread
Chicken and Dumplings
Meat Pies (my own personal recipe)
Roast Turkey
Roast Ham
Darnit, now I really am hungry! Lol, and you can really tell I love food. *pokes belly*
