Incoming!
So I just got my notice from Fedex that my shipment will be picked up today. I now have a tracking number to stare at repeatedly throughout the night. This is the first time I have ever had snakes shipped to me, I am so excited I can hardly stand it! Tomorrow needs to come faster so I can see my new babies! I won't say what's coming yet, just that it's a pair and that they are exactly what I have been wanting! I plan to make a video opening up the box and take many many pictures.
Anyone else expecting anything tomorrow? If not... why not share your first experience having a snake shipped to you?

Congrats! I can't wait to see pictures of the mystery snakes. :)
I'm done for the next few months (hopefully >_<), so nothing is coming in for me tomorrow.
I'm not so sure you really want to hear my first experience with snakes being shipped, but I'm gonna tell it anyways. I got my first snakes shipped to me in March of this year, it was my spotnose pair (Bonnie and Clyde). Fall/Winter/Spring in Wisconsin can be cold and I should have asked that the breeder wait to ship them, but I didn't. When I got them I was terrified that they were dead because they were so cold. My hands were shaking so bad as I tried to get the snake bags open. Thankfully they were both okay, just really cold, but in my rush to make sure they were fine I got them mixed up because I didn't think to look for markings on the bags as to which was the female and which was the male. For the longest time I didn't know which one was Bonnie and which one was Clyde. :P
My story isn't one you really want to hear when it comes to receiving your first shipment, but they got here just fine and every shipment I've had since has gone really well. :)

I will be totally done after this weekend, though even them I am not entirely sure how much I will be able to find at the show. I spent a big chunk of my expo money on this pair because it was just exactly what I wanted and too good of a deal to pass up. I have 300 left for the expo, so I might be looking for one nice single gene snake or maybe two hets if I am lucky? We will see!
As is in a week I will have added at least 3 snakes to my happy little family.
Aww at least it all worked out for you and your spotnoses though! I mean they were cold but they ended up being okay in the end and that is what is truly important! It isn't too cold here at all as it is Arizona and they are coming from Florida, so they will not have to go to or from anywhere that's freezing... which will hopefully help. :D

Re: Incoming!
Congrats, I have had all 4 of my snakes shipped to me and I was just as excited for the last 3 as I was for the first one. :)
I don't really have a good story but let me assure you that this will not be the last time you have a snake shipped, its an expensive addiction ;)

No joke, she's always getting some neat new things!
I've only had 2 shipments of snakes in but it was half of my snakes
First time was 4 bps and the second time was for my lesser. Its extremely exciting to come home and open up boxes of snakes! I'm at school on the weekdays so when they arrive in the morning my dad puts the box in my room.

Lol, I'm a super opportunistic buyer and I have the self control of a kid in a candy shop. :P
I need to build some new racks before I get any more new additions and I want to save up for a male pastel pied and spider caramel albino. Those aren't quite as cheap as the single gene snakes I've been picking up. :P
Sorry to hijack your thread Crawly's Mom.

I am so very excited! So far I keep checking FedEx and it keeps telling me that they received shipping information, but nothing more. Curse you FedEx, you're killing me!!! I cannot wait to be able to get that box and crack into it, it's going to be so very exciting. :D
I know it! Kinra is always adding something new and exciting to her family! Girl you cannot fool anyone, we know next week there will be another one lol.

So something I've learned about overnight shipping, just ignore it until morning. I've been so excited before that I stayed up super late and it never really updated until the next morning. :(
I can't get anything new until at least January. I get paid monthly and I've already spent all my spending cash (and then some) for this month and next month I need new tires for my car. My current ones aren't going to get me through winter so I have to go with safety over new snakes. :P

Haha it's ok me too Kinra, I'm just a poor college kid, that's the only reason I don't have more. I think 4 snakes in 3-4 months is a decent amount for a full time college student though. :P
And yea sorry Crawly's Mom :hijackd:
-
I am too excited to ignore it lol. I keep looking back and then getting all deflated. I'm like, yes, yes... no. lol. Its okay... I am not a thread nazi!
I have spent darn near my limit too. I am gonna have to wait till Bonnie has her clutch and hopefully get some spiders I can trade for some other single morphs I am itchin' for or maybe get some funds to put toward another snake lol.
-
It's been picked up, they're coming! Yay! So excited I just cannot contain myself lol. :taz:
-
My first shipment was at my door before my tracking ever even updated. Fedex tricksters.
-
Ugh that is so not bueno. Yeah mine still says picked up and nothing more... which I know cannot be possible. I am thinking of putting a sign on my door for them to knock loudly. Our door bell is broken... so I do not want to miss them, especially since I need to sign for the live arrival guarantee on the first attempt. A sign might be just the way to go. :\

Re: Incoming!
Are they there yet ?
:rolleye2:
-
not expecting a snake but i'm waiting on a red orange bearded dragon right now. I absolutely Hate that the tracking site updates an hour or so later than it happens. it also doesn't help i work a night shift job where i sit in front of a computer so i get to watch the tracking site alll night. But i loved getting my mojave in the mail it was probably the most exciting moment i've had. it was more exciting than picking up the the pastave in person to be honest
-
Sadly, not yet! They have arrived in Phoenix at the sorting facility. But even though its a whopping hour away I bet it won't be here for awhile yet. I am so nervous and excited. I wanna see my new babies so bad.
-
Re: Incoming!
How about now ?
:)
Was that a FedEx truck that you just heard...
Did someone just knock at the door...
-
You have no idea! The garbage truck just went through the neighborhood, I was up like a flash and at the door! Ugh this is gonna kill me today. I wanna go poke my husband and tell him to wake up and keep me distracted from this insanity lol.
This is all your fault Rob! This wouldn't be happening if you hadn't had these babies I just couldn't say no too!
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
-
Ahhh this even makes me excited.. :D
-
You are welcome to share in the excitement! I am so pumped. I've wanted this morph since the beginning and now it's almost here. Nevermind that he's coming with a girlfriend and they are both absolutely stunning! Cannot wait to see them in person. :rolleye2:
-
They are in Tempe! Getting closer!! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. :D
-
Love getting snakes in the mail but hate waiting for them to get to my door, wish all fedex trucks had a GPS on them so you know where they are at all times.
And congrats on your new babies :)

Re: Incoming!
Still not there?? The suspense is killing me!! I can only imagine what it's doing to you lol. There better be pics as soon as you open the box :D
-
Not here yet, it's killing me too, I assure you. My husband keeps rolling his eyes at me because if I even go to the restroom I make him stand by the door. I am so paranoid I won't hear them and I will end up missing them. I am gonna dart that sucker if he tries to get away! lol.
There will be pictures, lots and lots of pictures. Actually we may even be making a video of the process, since it is our first time getting a shipment and all. :D

Lol, they need to hurry up, I want to know what you got! :D
-
I can't take this lol. I have been pacing and looking out the windows for the last hour. They left Tempe and are supposed to be in transit, lord only knows how long that will take. I am just beginning to go stir crazy. This is really too much pressure lol!
LOL Kinra! You are just gonna have to wait to find out with everyone else. I want it to be a surprise. All I will say is the boy is a double gene like I have been wanting and he's absolutely gorgeous. Cannot wait!! :D

Cool video.
:gj:
I am glad that they arrived safe and sound, and that you are so excited about having them.
I always hope that the animals that I release from my collection go to a good home, and I can tell that these two have.
Thanks again,

Thank you so much everyone! We are really thrilled. I had originally wanted to wait to the expo to get a double gene male, however, when I saw Rob's lesser cinny I knew he was exactly what I wanted. I had been looking so much as lesser pastels, but when I saw the cinny I was absolutely hooked.
I think they are an absolutely beautiful pair and I really could not be happier. Thank you so much, Rob. You were great and the babies are stunning. :D
