I used a wine cooler! It's just like a mini fridge but it has a glass door so you can see in. It holds 4 clutches which works for me! Hatched two clutches so far with no problems. I have 11" heat tape with computer fan to circulate the heat!

Two rows of 10 watt 3" in the back. It's powered by a VE-300 with a VE-100 as a backup. I also inverted the built-in fan and sealed the back of it so it cycles the interior air.

The water bottles help keep a more even temperature because water cools slower than air:)

the water bottles serve as a thermal mass. they absorb the heat so that when you open the incubator door and the cool air rushes in, the bottles will hold the temp and heat the cool air back up to proper temp quickly.

Mine is very, very similar to yours! Almost identical and it works great! Successfully hatched out two clutches so far! Do a dry run to make sure it holds temp well! If it does then it should work great!

So it should hold over 20 clutches so she may not be the prettiest girl at the ball, but she'll do

nice touch. I just bought a cooler incubator off another BP member. Very exciting stuff. Once the clutches are too big for it, I'll build one, but that's not for another 3-4 years.

All I can tell you is to keep an eye on craigslist. Glass door mini fridges like this when broken compressors pop up every so often from people trying to get rid of them rather than trying to fix them.

Fans keep temps a little more even throughout the incubator by circulating the air. Even in smaller incubators the temps can vary as much as a couple degrees without the use of a fan. You'd probably be just fine in a smaller incubator, but as cheap as little computer fans are, its worth it to add one just in case.

One of our incubators. Nothing fancy. Just your standard cooler with some heat tape, fan, water bottles, Glad tupperware tubs and vermiculite all hooked up to a Herpstat. Its full of eggs at the moment so I'm not gunna take everything out for pics when we all know whats in it.

Mine is just a cooler incubator as well. I used a Heat cable wrapped arount the PVC layer at the bottom of the bator. PC fan has been wired to a 12V power supply and is what is used to circulate the air. So far, two successful clutches hatched with two more cooking!
