    Thoughts?
All, I have a difficult one for you. You only get these two (crappy) pictures to work with and *no* background info other than she hatched in September. She has random yellow "splotching" all over her belly, which is visible in the second picture if you look carefully (above my finger).

I'm just looking for thoughts on her; your responses will not influence any type of decision, period (i.e., purchasing, breeding, selling, etc.). Thanks!

I am keeping the rest of her body a secret (for the time being). Again, I mentioned that this is a tough one (because it may be nothing) and you only get two pics to work with (because it is feeding night).

I am not trying to trick anyone, just trying to get unbiased opinions based purely on belly shots. Maybe it gets me nowhere, but that needs to be expressed through your post. Thanks.

typically normals have marked bellies. So that fact that you have a marked belly snake would lead me to say it is a normal, just because there are only a few morphs that have marked bellies. This is too little info to say more.

I am well aware of normals having a variety of belly patterns, but thank you for your input.

Another tidbit; this girl is a morph, but her belly looks like nothing I've seen before.

I see 'X', but do I see 'X' because I want to see 'X'? I don't have any X's in my collection and haven't seen enough in person to confidently say yes or no with her. Ultimately, I will have to breed her to find out, but receiving unbiased opinions (hence the 'X's) never hurts. Thanks.

just these 2 belly shots are not enough to determine if anything is going on. as you stated, you're well aware of normals and morphs having varying belly patterns. it's probably you seeing something because you want to see something :P:D:gj::salute:

My 2c is that what ever you banged to your pastel to make this influanced its bellys pattern. If your pastel hooked up with normal with a black back ull get pastels with alot of back lushing and little to no dorsal stripe. Im thinking what ever it was had an "ashen" belly and it pasted it on.

She's not a Pastel (see below). However, she came from a Het x Het breeding and the original breeder is no longer in the ball python game. I was leaning towards YB, but that would be a million to one. I have a decent collection (no YBs) and haven't seen this type of belly on any of my snakes (morphs or wild types). Thanks for your input.

Shhhhhhh! :colbert: I was trying to get unbiased opinions and showing any dorsal or lateral views would give away the base morph.

I was likely just seeing what I wanted to see, which is fine! I bought her as a Clown and that is all I expect her to be. I've just never seen a checkered pattern with yellow splotches on a non-YB. Again, I was just being human and seeing what I wanted to see.

I guess I will find out in a few long years. Thanks for everyone's input!

    Here's the culprit.

Some "flame" action (not really, but I like to dream).

Definitely just a clown, especially since you say it's from a het X het breeding :)

YB clowns have yet to be claimed, I'm working on them late next season but I'm sure somebody will beat me too it.
