Why can't all ball pythons eat like this ? (Video)
My 3 year old normal rescue girl is a serious pig when it comes to eating, i think its cuz shes so little! Just thought I'd share my crappy feeding video, as its the first Ive ever done. First small rat for her tonight, she was on rat pups before. Wish all my future ball pythons will eat like this, but probably not the case :(

    Enjoy ^^

I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses cooking utensils as feeding tongs. :P

All of your future snakes might not eat like that, but a majority of them should. 90% of mine are pigs like that. My enchi will hunt me down if I don't feeding him fast enough after opening his tub. By hunt me down, I mean he comes half out of his tub towards me looking for his rat. :P

Haha thats why I put the lid on the tub at first. As soon as she smells the rat, she comes out hunting. :P And I use these tongs I got from dollarama! I used a hammer and hammered it flat at the tip, so it holds rat tails quite nicely hehe

My pastel male hatchling is a pig like that and so is my 100% het orange ghost female. My male normal just decided that it is time to stop eating again,.

I feed Captain Hook with Bar-B-Que tongs when I feed her F/T or P/K. She eats like a champ and has never refused a meal whether live, F/T or P/K. Well until recently but that's because she was only a couple days from going into blue. She only has the wobble with F/T or P/K but with live she strikes and constricts immediately as soon as it comes near her. Ivan is like that too but he's only ever eaten live.

When you acquire more snakes ,do you plan on feeding them out of their enclosures as well? That could give you problems in the future (with new snakes) as ball pythons are shy feeders and most of the time moving them out of their enclosure makes them too nervous to eat. Of course that's only mho, she obviously has no problem with it.

Nice BP. I love strong feeders. My mojave is borderline psychotic when it comes time to eat.

What's with all of the newspaper on the floor under the tub?

I plan to get a rack system, and sliding in and out for feeding would be ideal. I really should start feeding her in her own enclosure though, youre right. Is it smart to lay down some newspaper or paper towel on one side of the tank above the substrate before feeding? that way theres no chance any substrate would get into her mouth.

I always put newspaper for the time being because sometimes she literally comes right out of the feeding tub. I mean like half her body is hanging out, and I still try and feed her. Sometimes she ends up constricting outside of the tub, and thats why I have the newspaper. So blood doesnt get on my carpet, cuz I do feed in my own room atm.

I personally feed in all of the enclosures. I use newspaper in the rack and aspen in the tanks and my tubs, I've only had a few instances where aspen got in their mouths and I had to physically remove it. Ingesting a little bit of substrate won't hurt them, it's when it's stuck in the mouth that can be a problem. Some people but paper towels or newspaper down, but even with only 10 snakes it's too much of a PITA for me :)
