Irwin :(

It might be a little silly to be posting on here about a spider, but this is the first pet that I've owned that I've lost, and it's completely my fault.

Irwin was my first T, and started my love for tarantulas. Yesterday I went to clean out his webbing and remove a dead cricket he left, and was holding him carefully in my hand like I always do. I hold a paper plate at the same time so that if he startles and runs he runs onto the plate, and can easily hold on to the top or bottom to keep from falling.

Something startled him (still not sure what) and he fell 5 feet to the floor. I picked him up and he was still alive but clearly injured. There was nothing I could do for him. He died about 20 minutes later in his enclosure. I was devastated, and still am. I'll be getting another Versi, but it's just not the same. You can't replace your "first".

RIP Irwin, even though you're just a spider....

Awwwww. I'm so sorry for your loss. Irwin may have just been a spider but to you he was a beloved pet. :(

Aw, Leah, I'm so sorry. It doesn't matter what the pet is, when it dies it's upsetting.

Sorry to hear this, it's always hard to lose a member of the family.

Aw, Leah I'm so sorry to hear this! Things happen, it's not necessarily your fault. There was no way of foreseeing that. R.I.P little Irwin :(
