Big female?
How much do breeding females normally go for. Like an 1800g normal. I have some offers for a trade but dont want to be getting screwed because idk what there price range is.
-
The last expo I went to, female normals that were proven breeders were $125. A virgin that was up to size was $75. Hope that gives you an idea!

Thanks I literally had no idea so anything helps.

Re: Big female?
Depends I have seen big normal females go for 50buck all the way up to 200 bucks.......

I paid 100 for my over 3k gram girl. And same price for my 1400 gram because of her light color and pattern

Depends on the quality of the normal female.
I have a couple of females that are close to 3000 grams I wouldn't let go for less the $250-$300 each.
You pay for what you get as in almost everything else, yes there is buys out there, but in general most all of the cheap $100 breeding females out there are out there for a reason ;)

I've seen healthy big normal females anywhere from $50-$200. Yes there are females out there that have just laid and are not in top condition. You have to look for the healthy ones and ask questions when buying. That said though, I don't think I'd ever pay over $250 shipped for a big normal girl.

I paid $400 shipped for my second largest normal.
Of course, she was an import, and a fabled Ghana Giant so that played a factor.
I've seen some very nice big normal females here for $100 - $200, and I've seen them sell in a matter of minutes. The closer you get to breeding season, the higher the price for a female who either has not laid this year or laid early and is back up to size. ;)

I agree with what's been said, to add:
My 2000g female normal was $175 shipped.
My two 2200g normal females I got for $125 each, or $250 picked up not shipped.
All of these are proven breeders.

That's fair, everyone has their "amount" they'll spend on any given snake.
I give you this scenario...
I could offer you a 2000 gram female that lays 6 eggs every year consistently, she's $150
I could also offer you a 2000 gram female that laid 7 eggs her first season and then 10 her second season, she's $300.
Which do you choose?
I know if I have a powerful male those extra 4 eggs could bring me several thousand dollars or more in snakes, for only $150 more than the 6 egg layer.
Call me crazy but I'm paying the extra for the 10 egg layer.
There are many factors to consider when bringing a normal into the collection, looks, age, weight, type of prey she eats, how many eggs has she laid in the past, etc.

Re: Big female?
I just sold four adult normals for $150 each.

That's not nearly enough information Robin :P
How big, how many eggs, busy pattern, no spots in the aliens, 1000 gram adults, just laid eggs adults?
So many factors go into what an "adult" female goes for.
Also I see people advertise 1000 gram "adults" all of the time. I'm not saying yours were, just stating "4 adult normals" for $150 ea doesn't give enough information as to size, previous egg counts, looks, etc.

Not trying to derail, but what is the market like currently for the even bigger female normals?
How much is reasonable to pay for a 3000 gram female, proven or virgin (price range that they're going for in this market)?
4000 grams?
5000 grams +?
I hardly see many bigger females over 2500 grams listed for sale now a days.

There's a reason you don't see really big proven females for sale. They make far too much money. I just scored a 3000+g 11 egg producing proven reduced het Hypo female. She won't ever leave my collection. When my offer was accepted I almost did a back flip. You just don't see girls like that for sale frequently. Her last clutch was 11 fertile eggs and weighed 1250g. I'd happily pay extra for a big girl that produces nice healthy clutches. I guess if I was breeding male pastels to them or something, who cares? But if you're breeding 2+ gene males then every extra egg is another increase in your odds to hit and make some more cash.

^ Makes sense :gj:
How much could you estimate to pay for a 3000+ normal (not het for anything), if that's not too broad of a quesiton? Are big virgin girls (3k+ grams) significantly cheaper than proven girls or are they all around the same price range?

One was a virgin, about 1500 grams (I don't know exactly, I don't weigh many of my adults any more, I decide who breeds based on overall body condition). Two were proven breeders, six eggs each clutch, just laid this season, dams to my best lemon pastel clutches, and one was an adult female I got in trade that I never bred, probably 2000+ grams.
One was blushed back (the virgin), one was busy patterned and two reduced patterned. One person bought all four.

Personally, if the snake looked great and was what I like (reduced, banded, blushed) I wouldn't have a problem paying $250-300 for A 3000+g snake that was proven. You just don't see a lot of top notch animals released at that size. A virgin animal is great for recessive breedings so you don't have to worry about sperm retention etc but I wouldn't pay nearly as much for an unproven female. Perhaps $150-175 at most if it was exactly the type of animal I was looking. It just really depends on who is selling the snake and what you're willing to pay to get an animal that fits what you need.

I've gotten $200 for one of my normal females. Depends on the market where you are and a bunch of factors such as:
- Proven vs. Virgin
- Eating frequency
- Odd het markers or special pattern or color discrepancies
- Health
- etc.
I've seen adult normals go for $50 and I've seen them go for $300.
