How long must I resist cutting?
Hatch date is two weeks from now...I'm going to an open house at Royalconstrictordesigns on the fifth. I would like to know what I have so I have an idea what I might like to buy/sell. Anyone feeling me? Just excited I guess. Two weeks isn't to early, is it?

That's day 46 right!? Don't do it!!!!! I did on day 45 and lost one. Just to risky. I would say day 51 is better then day 45 IMO.

I wouldn't cut that early if you aren't experienced. Cutting at day 52 is fairly simple as long as you keep the eggs clean and wet.

Is six days going to make a lot of difference? More egg maintenance? Is that it?

I would not cut before day 55 day 52 is probably safe, I dunno I just wouldnt want to risk it personally and if you cut and then go to the open house you still wont have anything to trade, go and do your shopping get your wish list, and when stuff hatches hash out a trade

Atleast 52. So much can happen before that, plus they don't even color up till mid 50's anyway. So if you cut earlier you still don't really see what you have. Spiders look like bees and so on.

My buddy cut his first ever clutch of 9 eggs on day 47 this year, every single one died.
It's your call, nobody can tell you what to do, but I tell you what, my buddy will never do it again and has to live with the memory of his impatience.

I wait usually wait until day 55 to 56 on most eggs before cutting but if they are deflated all of the way by day 52 I'll cut.

Check this out from my first clutch. I cut on day 48 and was almost certainly the cause of them all dying. I'm not saying that you are as incompetent as I am, but it really isn't worth it. Those babies all looked the same to me until like day 54.

Two spider and five either bees butter bees or queens. My guess is 1 bee two butter bee and two queen bees. But we will see. :)

I cut every egg day 45-50 depending what day it lands on.

Never lost a single baby due to egg cutting as it wont harm them. Listen to YOU not the forums. Its your hobby, your eggs and you know whhats best for them.

When you cut just make small Dime size holes and thats it. Check on them every other day if needed to add water.

I know what the OP is talking about. My next clutch is getting close and I'm very tempted to cut. It's only day 62, but I think I can wait a couple more days. :P

Hehe, nah... I'm patient, and it's not a typo. I've been incubating them on low (between 86 and 87F), so they take a little longer to cook. I'll probably have a few pipping when I get home tonight.

I incubate where t-stat is 88.1. Bottom shelf is 87.5 and top is 88.5. All came out before day 57

I'm incubating at 88.5. Last two clutches came out at 60 days.

I have cut upto 15 days or so early without complications but I stay out of the egg box except to spray them. I ALWAYS cut by day 50 but I incubate at 90.5f. HOWEVER I wouldnt recommend cutting early if youre not experienced doing it

Thanks. Still just guessing. I know two are just spiders, the rest have the spider pattern but could be butter bees or bumble bees. One has a slightly faded pattern and I'm guessing that's a queen bee. But I could be wrong could be 2 spiders 4 bumble bees and 1 butter bee or all five bumble bees.

Ok 53 days shouldn't they have color if they are bees? 2 spider and 5 that are black and white.

Re: How long must I resist cutting?
Color is he last thing that comes in, no not necessarily. Though, it the pattern really black, grey or light grey? If its darkened to black they are probably bees.

Thats incredibly uncalled for. Glad you at least took the time to read the thread after you posted.

In my opinion it's better to wait until the first baby cut the egg by itself.. after that you can cut the rest :)
