    2011 Snow Project Clutch Hatched!
Well my 4 egg snow project clutch hatched a few days early. The pairing was albino het VPI axanthic to het VPI axanthic 66% chance het albino female. I am proud to say I've proved my first possible het, and this girl is now a proven 100% double het snow. The first egg I cut was an albino, and the second was an axanthic. The last two were normal looking het albino, 66% chance het VPI axanthics. The albino and axanthic look to be females, while the normal looking siblings are males. These were some small eggs, and the babies are tiny - all between 40 and 50g. Thanks for looking!

Thanks everyone! I'm very pleased with the results from this clutch, and I'm still glad I hit both axanthic and albino even if they weren't in the same animal.

They are both nice looking snakes! At least you know if you pair these two in the future that you have a chance at getting both genes in one! Congrats!

Somehow, I forgot to address this earlier. Actually I don't think this particular animal will be a traditional "faded" albino, which seems to be another mutation in addition to the albino mutation, but perhaps located on the same chromosome in which it would tend to be passed along with the albino mutation. The reason I don't think this one in particular is a faded albino is because those normally hatch out looking nearly like snows (and the faded hets hatch out looking nearly axanthic). There are a few threads in the ball python discussion section of faunaclassifieds when you search "faded albino" if you are interested in seeing photos. However, the sire of this clutch was a very light albino (one of the reasons I was glad to get him for my snow project), and I am excited that he appears NOT to be a traditional "faded" albino due to the fact that I won't have to rely on the presence of the "faded" element to produce light albinos, and hopefully exceptionally light snows from this line.
