How do your friends react to your reptiles?
My guy friends tend to find them awesome
my friends who are female tend to freak out
    Especially to my snakes
my geckos and beardie are just called gross ):
I don't see why some people have a fear of reptiles :/

are your friends okay with your reptiles?
I've gotten some of my friends who were terrified of my BP to hold him and now they love him and ask to hold him every time they come over

I've made friends through this hobby :) I've gotten friends to face their fears, and others who love herps as much as I do. With 35 snakes, I learn pretty quickly who is willing to stick around and who isn't lol.

    wow, 35?
Considering that I'm still a minor, it's hard to find people my age who are into reptiles

I have a few friends with their own snakes, a close guy friend who doesn't mind them but refuses to touch them, and my 'roomie' who seems to like them, but hasn't really come to try and play with them since she accidentally witnessed feeding day lol. Most of my friends are into plenty of other "weird stuff", so even if they don't personally like snakes, they aren't going to run screaming, either.

A lot of my female friends (and male friends, actually, so most of my friends) find them super cool! I've got one friend who's afraid of them a little bit, so he tends to just stay out of them, but the rest are cool with them.

The tarantulas on the other hand... haha, I don't have a single friend who likes them

I don't have too many friends who think they are really cool. It's mostly just kids who think they are fascinating. My mom used to have nightmares about snakes all the time, but she is actually the one that comes over and takes care of the snakes when I'm gone! There are a few other people that have "conquered" their fear of snakes at my house, lol. I would say majority of the people that come over just want to look at them, or don't want to see them at all.

And most people that find out I breed snakes think I'm crazy. Although, just a couple weeks ago my grandma told me that her and grandpa decided I was the coolest person they know, lol. She got a kick out of telling people her granddaughter was going to Chicago for a reptile expo.

Most of my friends just look and think they look cool. A couple of them are scared and wont even look in there tanks. My mom thinks i'm crazy, but luckily my gf loves. But everyone is a little interested in the genetics and what not.

I train dogs as part of my living and, ironically, most of my friends in the dog world are the ones who think I'm totally nuts and wouldn't be caught dead the vincinity of my snakes. You'd think they wouldn't be bothered by them since these are real animal lovers and, as such, we do deal with some pretty gross aspects of animal husbandry at times, lol.

Most of my friends outside of the dog stuff actually think the snakes are pretty cool and get really interested in the genetics. They are also really curious about feeding and one lady I work with really wants to come over on feeding day just to say she saw that! :D

I'm 35 and I still have trouble finding people who are as interested in herps as I am. Thank heaven my dear hubby is supportive!

I have been keeping BP's, king snakes, boa's, turtles and Lizards since I was like 6 years old "now i am 24", And even I would run out of the room screaming like a sissy if you pulled out a tarantula, or any spider for that matter. LOL.

Our close friends all respect and enjoy our hobby :) they love looking at my pictures of them!

The people I'm not closest to think I'm weird, but you know what? I'd rather be weird and loving my life than normal and worried about what everyone thinks of me! :)

Friends Sometimes Suck...when its something they dont care for! But my Wife ROCKS!!
All my fiends kinda make fun when showing my reptiles off! There are only a few family members that like them, but they just want a freebe when I finally start hatching out stuff! My true friend and only person that loves them as much as I do and helps me take care of them...is my Beautiful Wife! :headbang:

A good amount of my friends love my reptiles! I could only recall a few that were disgusted, but that was only with the snakes, but they love my bearded dragon and especially the crested geckos! Cresties are such crowd pleasers:D

I don't really know any other folks outside of this site that are into snakes. My mother thinks they are disgusting and the people that I do know where I live think that I am just nuts.

most of my guy friends are a little skittish whenever they come over while i have them out and will make comments about them sometimes. weirdly, most of by brother's gf's friends, who are all still in high school, really love my bps and wanna see them every time they come over. my roommates gf just move in with us and we're slowly getting her more comfortable with them, she'll only hold my smaller one and kinda jsut pets the big female while i hold her.

My roommates think I'm crazy. They call me an animal hoarder.
I don't even have that many reptiles right now. I have 3 snakes, a tortoise and a gecko. They should have seen my collection 9 years ago!
Its cool though. I don't let it bother me. They just don't get it. They haven't known me for very long so they don't understand my longtime love for reptiles. Still haven't told them I have another snake coming on Tuesday!

A lot of my friends, on the other hand, like my snakes and tortoise and when new people come over, they are impressed by my setup and how well i "take care of them." (its mostly the digital thermometers and hydrometers, i swear. LOL)

Just last Friday, I attended my son's pre-school class and decided to bring my super pastel in for the children to see. it was a blast and even the skeptics came around and enjoyed visiting with the snake.

regardless of what others think, i will continue to be myself, though. i don't really mind the haters. i feel their ignorance will shine in the eyes of others so no need to say anything! :)
