Am I the only one....

This may sound wrong, but am I only one who gets a little too excited when my snakes eat? I look forward to feeding day. I just got 0.2 Pastels and 0.1 Spider and they ate flawlessly, no hesistation. I am lucky enough to have a great group of eaters. If none of my snakes strike in 2 minutes, its cus theyre not hungry and wont be eating for a couple of days.

Btw the pastels & spiders are hatchlings and they demolished the rat fuzzies instantly.

i just put up a post about how much i love my best feeder. Its a great feeling to have one that is just a pig, and to have most or all of them like that is rare and even better!

I was super excited! I got my first ball last Wednesday and yesterday I offered him a hopper mouse "after searching for him for 6 hours". He took after it like a champ, even though he had been feeding on rats. Glad to know he isnt a picky eater at all.

I love it on feeding night when some if not all mine eat - it is a wonderful thing.

After 4 years of owning bp's I have finally learned that some of mine will go off feed for extended period of time but I just can't take it personally or let it upset me - they will eat when they are hungry.

It's funny though, on feeding night if one of my picky eaters decides to eat that night - my mood immediately turns euphoric!!!!!

Amazing how these little creatures can run your whole life.

I love it when they eat. Last night, I just fed my 1.0 Pin (rat pup) and my 1.0 Pastel (rat weanling) and even my 0.0.1 normal (rat weanling) ate while in shed.

I swear my weeks get better when I have to go buy rats. I've been lucky (knock on wood) to never have problem feeders. I feed good sized prey and often and they always come out like they are starving. I've never had any hesistations. But I know it'll come eventually.

I may be wrong, but I have found it easier to find mice to the rat eaters than to feed rats to the mice eaters. Either way, congrats, but try to stick to rats of you can.

My snakes, especially my Mocha, eats anything even while in shed.

I agree!!! It's especially rewarding when my trouble eaters chow down!!!

My son and I always look forward to feeding night and well he is getting the hang of feeding and caring for his snake so it makes for a great feeling watching him care for his snake. The only downside is his snake is being a pita about rats but hopefully we have that taken care of now as well :D

I'll admit, we've become a bit desensitized when it comes to feeding. A lot of the time it feels like more of a chore than anything, but not as bad as cleaning tubs. But when your picky eater or one that has been on a hunger strike eats, it is quite a high.

I love feeding day! Even though I've only had mine for a few months they already know the schedule and routine. :D I absolutely LOVE how they look straight up at me as if to say "whatcha feeding me, Mama?" All 3 of my balls are voracious eaters and tag their food as soon as they smell it. One of my burms thinks it's a ball though and can be a picky eater and my other burm is a typical burm. All except the picky burm will even eat in shed.

As much as I love to do the feedings myself, noone else in my house wants to feed them, although they love watching them eat. And I feed them one at a time. Only when one is completely finished eating do I move to the next. Anyone else with multiple snakes do this? Also, does anyone else have one that seems to like to wash it's face (rub the side of it's face against it's enclosure) after it's finished? My oldest ball does that and it's so cute! :D I used to have another ball a long time ago who did the same thing.

With the fairly large snake collection I have, I divide the feeding duties into three days per week, so I won't get too overwhelmed on one day. I have to say that I enjoy my python & boa feeding day the most and actually do look forward to it.

The day my BP ate her first meal with me I was ecstatic! I didn't even get to see her eat it because I left it alone with her for a few hours but the my heart like swelled when I checked back a few hours later and it was all gone. :D

A few days ago I fed three of my BP's and they all ate. I was in heaven! :gj: The next day, with my confidence and ego all inflated, I offered rats to my other two BP's. Nada. That sure burst my bubble! :please:

My roommates BP got burned really bad a couple months ago and is finally pretty much all healed but hasn't eaten since the burn yet we keep getting him a mouse every week and he's still not eating, so my boy keeps getting an extra mouse, and then this week after not showing much interest we went ahead and killed the mouse, then I got the idea to throw the fresh kill into his tank and he slammed it down. So now my snakes not only getting fattened up on double meals, but now has proven to eat dead, next is switching to rats and then maybe f/t.

BTW, anyone still have that link to the chart that compares mouse & rat sizes?

Nothing makes me happier than when most or all of my 20 balls all eat on feeding night.

Call me sick and twisted, but a heavy thump followed by a short squeak is music to my ears after months of feeding struggles. My babies and I had to work out some kinks in our routine, but now I'd say an average of 97% of them eat on schedule. Usually it's only if one is in blue and cranky that I get a refusal.

Of course, now that breeding season is nearly here, I'm going to be dealing with a lot more refusals, but at least this time I know it's normal.

yes the sound of a squeaking rat does make the feeding process go a little bit better. yea i have 1 that is a pickey eater and he likes to go off feed for no reason at all then out of the blue i will offer him a rat and he will eat he has done me this way ever since i got him. i also have 1 that no matter what i throw in his tub he chows down on it so his name is garbage disposal
