This is awesome!!!! My spider(male) x spotnose(fire?)(female) :)
So I wasn't sure if this would even happen, because she is a rescue and she was in such bad shape when I got her. And I know and have read that when they get up in years they can and have turned and just eaten the male. Don't know if it's true or anybody has ever. But well she's 12-15 yrs old and she's one of my rescues. So I put her in with my male spider and I have been watching, and he's a Don Juan, he was caressing her with his tail and she stretched out and he was caressing her and she starting tapping her tail, and wala!!!! I have a lock, OMG I'm freaking out!!! Here is a picture!!!! Enjoy!!!!

Never heard of the female turning on the male and eating him, that sounds like a myth to me.
Thats great you got a lock, congrats! :gj:

I read it in an old ball python manual type book, I was kinda nervous about put'n him in there except since she is a rescue and was housed with 3 others she is used to being with others in small quarters already.
Thanks for the congrats!

Re: This is awesome!!!! My spider(male) x spotnose(fire?)(female) :)
To me she doesn't really look like a spotnose either. Do you have better pictures? She looks like a big normal, pretty girl though :)
-
I hope I get all of my males through the breeding season,
I hate when they get eaten....j/k :D
Your female looks like a normal, no spot nose head pattern and I don't see fire either, just a nice large normal, good luck making some spider babies.
Have you prepared for the out come with an incubator, a place to house the hatchlings, etc...?

I have to be quick, she's kinda iffee w the snapping of the picts but I got a quick pict of her face, ima post it up so you can see her face. :) She is a guesser for sure. Actually I should have posted spotnose/fire??? she does have a hoof print on her head, which right now I can't get close to her because everytime I open up the tub since she in lock w the male she is puffing and hissing at me, so I don't want to disturb the lock lov'n. But she also has 3 or 4 big white dots and 3 yellow dots about the size of peas on her scales just random no real pattern. Probably like you said just a nice normal. :) And thank you!

She doesn't look like a spotnose to me either, but what does her age matter? Just because the gene wasn't proven until 2005 doesn't mean it wasn't around before that right?
Edit: Congrats on them locking up! :)

I agree she's not a spotnose but that doesn't mean she couldn't have been.
I have to believe there were spotnoses around before they were proven :)

Sure they could have been around but that would mean that she was a WC female.

Yeah I posted the eating thing, I read that in an old ball python manual book. Thought I could get a rise out of some people. She is an old female 12-15 yrs old never been near a male and says supposedly females can. ok!!! I do have a hovabator, my buddy ben seigal gave it to me and my other buddy derek roddy has another much larger one the size of a small frig. that he has no use for. Plus if I am darn lucky enough i do have a pepsi machine that can easily be used as an incubator. It's all gewd. If i'm lucky enough to get that far. Last year my Megarea was in lock and never produced anything so, I have my fingers crossed.

couldn't have been? i'm confused, so what is the hoofprint on her head mean? maybe i have a dinker? oh boy maybe I just opened up a can of worms?
-
Normal patterns varie, its doubtful it means anything. A lot of people try to make more out of something small than it ever really is.
Also, you mean Ben Siegel* ... lol.
Good luck.

It might not mean anything. I have a ph caramel glow female that has a distinct head mark, but it doesn't look anything like what my spotnoses have. Also with spotnoses they tend to be more of a khaki color with jet black pattern.
My ph with the head pattern (she's the super light one):

My female spotnose:

You can see her head pattern, but also how dark her black is. Also they don't always have a horse shoe shape. My male has a Christmas tree on his head. :P
Here is my male:

Search images of a spotnose ball python and you will see the spotnose head pattern is very different from any other ball python.
The pattern you see oon your snake is on many normals and a few other morphs too but it isn't on a spotnose, check them out, they have a very distinct pattern to them :)

Re: This is awesome!!!! My spider(male) x spotnose(fire?)(female) :)
Not a Spotnose or a Fire, but she's a nice normal. She is what some refer to as a "Booger Nose". I have a female w/ those little spots on her nose and she randomly passes them onto her offspring. Nice looking girl regardless.

Oooooh a boogernose, gross!!! Great, oh well you learn something new everyday. Thank you for the info. And the hoof print on her head what is that all about, it's almost a cloverleaf print, I've been researching it and too no info do I get. Oh well all I know is I think she is gonna hopefully give me some pretties if I'm lucky.
Thank you for the compliment I think she is pretty too, she didn't look so good when I first got her. She is one of my rescues, when I first got her she was extremely skinny and dehydrated.
