Mojave Swollen Lower Jaw- Help!
Good day Everyone,
I'm hoping I could get some insight on what you think is going on with my female mojave. Its been about a week since this has developed and i've been watching it very closely. Her bottom jaw/lip seems to be pretty swollen, i noticed it a few days after a feeding. This girl hits rats so hard so i'm thinking she may have damaged something in her mouth.
I feed frozen thawed and not live so it can't be a bite, maybe a claw scratched her?
I have had my friend look at pics and a video of her who is a Veterinary assistant and he said its definately not an RI. I have my appointment booked after the weekend.
She still flicks her tongue, and she has been eating. Yesturday she was really excited about the rat and i could tell wanted it, but she didn't strike.
All husbandry has been spot on. Have any of you seen this before? Mouth rot perhaps? i'm heading to the pharmacy tommorow to grab a bottle of Betadine to apply orally.

definately am, after the weekend. my vet assistant friend said that honestly they're just going to prescribe Betadine anyways lol. (good friend of mine, so hes just looking out)
I just want to see what everyone thinks about it, and don't worry i'm going to see the vet regardless!

Betadine is a good initial wound cleaner, but often damages new growing cells so it is not good to use as a continual antiseptic.
Keep us updated what the vet says.
betadine does no such thing. Peroxide/Rubbing Alcohol does kill living tissue even when wiped dry. Depends if your using it diluted or not
